tell me why i can't seem to face the truth i'm just a little too not over you - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Wells Beach, Maine. That was the current location of Matthew Roberts. It was his new home. Or maybe not entirely new since he had moved here a few months ago back when college first started up. Something about it just didn't feel right though. There was something missing from his heart. It had been that way for ages now and he tried to convince himself that he was just homesick after all Maine was way different to what he had been use to. He was originally from San Diego, California. Things had been great when he lived there. In high school he had been the captain of the basketball team, making him one of the most popular guys and more importantly he had the girl of his dreams. Had being the key word there. Her name was Juliet Calloway. She was his first and true love. He knew that it was true, there was no other girl out there for him. Just her. But she was no longer his. Graduation had been looming and so had college. Both equally scared the young man. Juliet had told him that everything would be fine, that even though they were headed off in different directions thing would still work out. She had been figuring out time differences, days that they could visit each other and how apart they would be. Matt tried to focus on the fact that everything would turn out just like how she said but he couldn't. His mind kept roaming onto the fact that when she was off at some fancy university she might find some other guy. Some guy that she realized that she was truly in love with. Some guy that wasn't him.
With that thought in his mind he did the only thing that seemed right at the time. He broke up with her. That was the biggest mistake of his life. At the time he felt it was best. If he broke up with her then he wouldn't have to go through her breaking his own heart if she found another man. After the night he broke up with her he had regretted it ever since. He wished that he could take it all back but he couldn't. The only thing he could do was wait and hope that some day he'd get over her. So far he hasn't been doing a good job at that. She crossed his mind a lot but they never spoke. Until a couple nights ago. He had been hanging out at his place, surfing the net and on msn. Juliet had been online and they began to chat. It was awkward but he hadn't been able to bring himself to say how he felt. It would have been useless. She was probably halfway across the world from him right now. Even if he had said it, it's not like she'd just hop on a plane, rushing back to him. Things weren't that simple when it came to real life. That was more like something that would happen in a movie or television show. That whole situation was just bugging him even more now. Ever since that conversation over the computer he was having more trouble getting her off of his mind. It seemed like she was on it constantly. It really wasn't good.
Matt shouldn't be focusing on her all of the time. It was beginning to affect his everyday life. During classes he'd space out, letting his mind wander on her. Wondering what she was doing, if she was in a similar class at the same time as him, if she was alright. At night she'd be on his mind so much that it caused him not to sleep. He be laying awake at four in the morning just staring at the ceiling while memories of her raced through his mind. Her smile, her laugh, her voice. It all haunted him. That was why he had made his way to the beach. After going through another sleepless night he felt the need to go some wheres relaxing. The beach was calm and quiet. It was very serene. It was a place where he could go and just sit or walk through the water. Earlier that morning, once it was a decent enough time to leave the house he had went to the nearest dinner and got some breakfast along with a coffee. The morning had passed and so did the afternoon. It was getting closer to the evening now and Matthew Roberts was sitting on the sand quietly as he stared out at the ocean. Matt had been there all day and he had no intentions of leaving any time soon. The sun would be setting in the near future, watching it would be a nice plus it's not like he had anything better to do right now.

he was all i needed and more, then he walked out my door, he went away. left my heart in two. ----- juliet Calloway sat in her room after finally unpacking her last batch of stuff. Yes, she was procrastinating once more - even though she was making it a goal for her not to - but nevertheless after a few weeks all of the boxes in her room were empty and now in the trash. Her move from San Diego to Wells Beach was a bit overwhelming and somehow she was able to survive. From a big city, to a small town and glam to fishing, Jules had been going through it all. She didn't mind it, actually she enjoyed the quiet streets compared to the loud honking of cars from her previous neighborhood and now that she wasn't living with her parents anymore, Juliet felt like she had more freedom. However, something was still missing. Jules didn't think she was homesick or the fact that she wasn't in high school anymore. A part of her was just gone and she couldn't do anything to get that part of her back. There were several ideas in her head to why she felt so empty, but the girl never really liked thinking about it that often. All she wanted was for everything to go back to normal because she missed being in California, but she didn't have much luck with getting what she wanted. In fact, she usually got the opposite to that and the situation would probably get worse by the second. The brunette let out a sigh and turned on her laptop, then logged into msn to see if there was anybody she could chat with to take up her time. Juliet scanned her friend list in hope of finding anybody she could annoy for the time being. As predicted, there was nobody online that she wanted to talk to. There were a few people she could have annoyed but considering she didn't know those two or three people that much, leaving them alone was a better choice.
----- as she stared at her small buddy list, a familiar screen name caught her eye. MATT ?! was offline at the moment, but every now and then she wished she could just talk to him. Even better, she wished she could see him again - face to face. Just a few days ago, the two had talked on msn and for the first time in a while, Juliet had laughed. There wasn't anybody out there who could make her laugh like Matt did. It was basically his job. But now that he wasn't her boyfriend anymore and she barely ever saw him, Juliet never had those laugh attacks anymore. From time to time she was given the chance to talk to him, whether it was on the computer or on the phone, she still had that power to make them friends again. Problem was she didn't have the guts to and she had no idea where he was. Right after graduation, Matt and Juliet kept their distance from each other. Reason being was because he had broken up with her, somehow assuming that there would be no possible way to keep them together. Juliet wanted to disagree with him, but after he had told her meeting new people was the best thing to do after high school, there was no stopping the words that had just come out of his mouth. He had said and she went along with it. That was the end for now, but until some random miracle was going to happen, there was no chance on Earth that she would ever going to find someone like him again. However, considering that Matthew Roberts was Matthew Roberts he could find another girl like herself in a split second. And now that he was probably thousands of miles away from her, that possibility was more than likely.
----- the girl turned her head and looked at the clock that was beside her. She planned on spending her entire day unpacking, but now that she was all finished Juliet didn't know what to do next. All the homework from her professors were all finished up and she didn't want to spend the rest of the evening sitting around doing nothing. It didn't take her long to come to the conclusion of going to the beach, after all, she loved the sunsets and the view was amazing. Because she didn't live that far away from the beach, Juliet decided to walk there so that she'd get some fresh air. A cool breeze and the smell of salt water filled her senses as she got closer and closer to her destination. Though the beach in Maine wasn't exactly like the one back home, it somehow reminded her of San Diego. The soft sand under her toes and the sound of seagulls always reminded her of California. Once she had arrived at the beach, Juliet did her usual beach routine and slipped off her flipflops. Her toes sank through the sand, causing a smile to come upon her face. All she needed was a few of her old friends and it would be as if Jules was back in sunny San Diego.

tell me why i can't seem to face the truth i'm just a little too not over you - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The young man watched as a fishing boat drove passed him farther out in the water. The boat was quite the distance away but it still caused some waves to rush towards the shore. Matthew sat there, calm and relaxed at the moment. He watched attentively as the large waves crashed on the shore. Back in San Diego if the waves were good he'd usually go surfing. Even though he had been in Wells beach for a while he had never tried surfing here yet. He wasn't sure if many people did in general. They mostly just cared about fishing hence the boat that was out in the water. Now Matt lived close to the beach, he actually had a good sized beach house down the road meaning that he spent a lot of time here. Maybe the next time the waves were good he could try surfing. He still had his boards in his house, he had taken them with him just in case. It could be worth a try after all even though he loved basketball he needed some other types of activities to do. With that thought in his mind he suddenly frowned. It made him think of Juliet. The other day when they had spoke over msn things had almost been like old times. They had been joking around and just having a normal chat. Just like how good friends would. During that conversation they had gotten onto the topic of sports, obviously it had come up considering it was Matt Roberts, sports were his thing.
One particular sport they had talked about was volleyball. Jules had been saying how she was good at that game and that she might be able to beat him. Of course he disagreed because it was in his nature to do that whenever things were sports related. Just the way she had said it made it seem like she was challenging him. It made him want to play against her, it would've been fun. The two of them playing a game of beach volleyball. Alas that was impossible since she was probably a million miles away from him right now. As soon as that last thought popped into his head he tried to shake it off. Okay he really needed to just get over her already. She wasn't in his life anymore. She was gone. That was that. Why was she so hard to forget? He had dated tons of girls before her and this had never happened. He ever tried dating after he broke up with her. When first moving to Maine he dated Angel Warren for a while. Not very long though, mainly because he was distracted most of the time. He couldn't help himself, Angel was a great girl but she just wasn't Juliet. But there were other girls out there, some that were probably very amazing and beautiful. Why didn't they attract him now? He just hated the way she was always on his mind. It bugged him so much and when they did speak whether it was over the phone or on the computer it just made everything worse.
Sitting there on the sand Matt sighed rather loudly since it was just him. Or so he thought. He was too busy picking up sand and letting it fall through his fingers to notice that another person had arrived at the beach. Matthew enjoyed the feeling of the soft sand on his fingers. Same with his toes. It amused him. He disliked it when he'd find a beach, get all ready to walk barefoot only to find that the sand was extremely coarse. That just kinda ruined things although he couldn't help that. It's not like he could control how a place was. It was nature and nature was uncontrollable. But suddenly he felt a slightly cool breeze, it ruffled his hair a little causing it to become messier but it also made him look up. When he looked up his eyes widened at what he saw. It was a young woman, walking along the beach. At first sight he recognized who it was but the more he stared at her the more he tried to tell himself that this wasn't happening. It couldn't be happening. She wasn't suppose to be here. She was suppose to be someone far away right now. The person that he thought he was seeing, it was Juliet Calloway. He was positive that it was her. But how could it be? In all honesty he thought that his mind was playing tricks on him. That due to all his thoughts being on her he was now beginning to hallucinate. To him that was the only possible reason. Matt kept his gaze on her, she was getting a little closer to him now. Suddenly, without even thinking he called out to her, "Jules?" He questioned calling her by the nickname he normally would use. He wondered if she'd reply, if it was in fact really her.

he was all i needed and more, then he walked out my door, he went away. left my heart in two. ----- juliet stopped walking for a bit and stared at the ocean. A small fishing boat was passing by in the distance. She was amazed to see how much the town loved their fish. Wells Beach was like no other town across the country and after only living there for a few months or so, it was beginning to grow on her. Juliet loved the quiet fishing town and what it had to offer. Sure, she missed having somebody to talk to and considering she didn't have that many friends yet, Juliet wished that all of the people in California would have moved to Maine with her. Then not much would be different anymore, just the fact that Wells Beach didn't look like California much. Jules, however, did have the option of going to a different college after high school. There were plenty of other schools that had accepted her but she would choose Maine over any other state. She liked waking up and hearing seagulls out her window and feeling the cold breeze of air when she walked outside. Jules loved every single difference that Wells Beach had compared to back home, which gave her an advantage to start fresh. Practically nobody around her new who she was or where she came from. She wouldn't have to be known as the freaky math girl anymore. Juliet could be anybody she wanted to be and not many people would know if she was faking it or not. However she didn't plan on pretending to be someone she wasn't. Wells Beach had to accept her for who she was and even though she was nothing like the people around her, Juliet would eventually have more friends. She didn't have that many at the moment, but as time progressed she was just going to focus on her studies and possibly socialize along the way. Generally she was shy around people she wasn't familiar with and that only changed if Juliet got to know that person better.
----- the girl’s trust was limited because of a few incidents back in San Diego and she could always tell if somebody was being fake around her. Juliet didn’t want to admit it but she was kind of thinking that her friend, Cassia, was one of those people. She knew that Cassia had the history of pretending to be sweet and fooling people if she wanted to know something. They were both new to Wells Beach, though. Jules planned on getting to know her better, but if Cassia did end up showing her true colors to her - that would be a different story. Either she was going to confront her or automatically stop hanging out with her. Juliet hated being around those types of people. However, she hoped their friendship wouldn’t end up being nasty in the future. After all, she liked Cassia and since the two had so much in common it would be a shame to end their friendship so quickly. The thought of her friends reminded Juliet of Matt once more. The other night they were talking about Volleyball and how she would dominate him if they were to go against each other. Obviously, he disagreed and since he was a jock and all, Jules could see what he meant. But he was wrong. Very, very wrong. Back in California she always played beach volleyball, especially if it was Spring break or Summer vacation. Volleyball was just her sport and it was the only one she was actually good at. Matt had tried to teach her to play basketball for a while, however it didn't do her any good. Juliet could dribble fine but her shots always missed the net. The brunette didn't really care about her lack at playing basketball, though. Basketball involved so much more effort and running - both of which she didn't like doing often. And if their little competition turned into a one on one basketball game, she would lose by double or triple digits. That was how good Matt was. On the plus side, Jules knew she would beat him in a volleyball game if they ever had the chance to play. One of her biggest achievements was getting first in a state wide tournament a few years ago with her teammates and Jules was pretty sure he couldn't top that with his basketball skills.
----- at the moment, she was completely oblivious to know that there was actually somebody else at the beach with her. Juliet was distracted with the amazing scenery right in front of her and for a bit the girl just stood at the edge of the water, staring out at the sunset. She then took off her sunglasses and put them away in her bag. It was getting a bit darker now and she wasn't able to see well with her sunglasses still on. Juliet dug her feet into the sand and kept on walking, then noticed a young man sitting on the sand a few feet away from her. Since she was looking at him from a side angle, she couldn't exactly see who it was. As she got closer to him, Jules wondered if she should go up and talk to him. They were the only two at the beach and it would be weird if she didn't. But it would also be weird if she did. So without thinking she just walked passed him, not knowing if he had seen her or not. Then out of nowhere, she heard him say her name. Startled, she immediately turned around a bit confused. How did he know her name? Juliet walked back toward him to see if she could recognize his face or not. If he was somebody she knew that would be great ! But if it was some random stalker person, Jules was going to stay as far away from him as possible. Once she was close enough, Juliet could make out who was sitting down on the sand. It was none other than Matthew Roberts. The girl smiled a bit, but at the same time she was curious and wondered why he was at Wells Beach. "MATT!" She said, then ran toward him, "You're here! In Maine, at the beach! Oh my gosh! When did you get here?" Juliet asked.

tell me why i can't seem to face the truth i'm just a little too not over you - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Matthew was enjoyed living in Maine. He moved here a couple months ago back when college was first starting up. He had always loved San Diego but there was just something about Maine that made him instantly like it. The two places were entirely different. California was so fancy and busy. If you went for a walk you'd always hear the sounds of cars honking their horns. People always seemed so rushed. When Matt was there he never minded it because it was just normal to him. But Wells beach was just a small community. After living there for even a small amount of time it was easy to see that it was calm for a majority of the time. One thing though the town sure loved their fishing. It seemed that everyone around could fish or came from a fishing family. Matt was obviously fine with that because even though he couldn't fish he loved eating the stuff. His favorite type of food was Chinese but seafood was pretty high on the list. He loved shrimp, scallops, oysters and basically any kind of fish. Especially lobster, that was his favorite. Matt loved eating a huge meal of lobster with all of the other dishes like potato salad, pasta salad and of course homemade rolls. That was a meal that his mother use to make a lot during the summer months. His whole family would come to their house for supper and they'd basically pig out. That was another thing he missed about back home. He wasn't a fan of cooking. He could cook but he didn't like it that much. He was usually too lazy to cook something incredibly tasty so he'd eat a lot of kraft dinner or just give into his cravings and get take out. It was a huge change considering his mother always made wicked home cooked meals. But oh well, he was living on his own now. It was suppose to be different.
He was surviving so that's all that mattered. So far college was going pretty well too. The classes were..not exciting but that was just natural because even though it was college it was still similar to college. There were teacher and professors everywhere and a cruel amount of tests and quizzes. When time came for exams that was definitely going to suck. He hated them. In high school he had always passed but the weeks before them were awful. They were full of three things. Studying, stressing and worrying. Matt would always go around complaining that he didn't know the stuff well enough. His parents told him that he'd do fine and that even if he didn't they'd be fine with it but he just got it in his head that he'd fail. That was one of his problems. In basketball or any sport he had great confidence. He wasn't arrogant about it but he knew that he was good. But when it came to a test or something like that in school he'd get all uptight and nervous. It wasn't good and he hated it but he had trouble stopping it. Worrying wasn't nice since some times it would affect his sleep but there was something positive about it. When he began to worry so much it could cause him to study ten times more than he needed. That resulted in him passing his tests and getting good grades to boot. But that was enough about school. It was the weekend, he was at the beach and the sun would be setting soon. School should be the last thing on his mind. That was why he immediately tried to get the thoughts out of his mind and just focus on the water and pretty scenery around him.
The focus was quickly lost when he saw the girl. The girl that he was positive was Juliet. She was staring back at him but she didn't speak. He wondered if she recognized him. He would think that she would but then it was getting dark. Not to mention she appeared to be looking at him from an odd angle but still! Finally after a short silence he had called out her name in hopes that it was her. Wait, was he hoping for it to be her? Yes. But should he? That was the question. He was still in love with her but he was the one who he broken things off. If it was her then this could make thing awkward, especially since if she was here then obviously this was the place she had moved too. Those thoughts were quickly pushed to the back of his mind as he heard her voice and watched her run over to him. Matthew got up off of the sand as she reached him. He looked down at her with a smile on his face as he listened to her speak. "I got here a couple months ago. I own one of the beach houses down the road" He explained speaking a bit more faster than usual since he was excited that she was here. "But what about you? I mean when did you get here? I can't believe this!" He added but then went quiet as he waited for her answers. He was curious because he knew about all of the college acceptance letters that she had gotten. This was a place that he had never expected to see her. Truly after their break up and graduation he never thought that he'd see her again.

he was all i needed and more, then he walked out my door, he went away. left my heart in two. ----- so far there wasn't much drama going on in Juliet's life. Back home was completely different. She would have a new problem to deal with every single week and that annoyed her like hell. Usually the conflict involved her, other times it didn't. But even though a problem didn't involve her, somehow she always had to get involved. Juliet always had an odd habit of fixing things up for other people and being that controlling person she was, it was kind of natural for her. Sure it bugged her that conflict kept on ruining her day, but she felt better whenever she changed the situation to make it angst free. However there were some people who hated her for being such a perfectionist or a control freak. Juliet couldn't blame them, but she was just trying to help. Most of the time those people told her to get her own life or fix her own problems. Problem was, she already had most of her own problems fixed and wanted to help out her friends by backing them up. Jules got the usual, "This is none of your business." reply. She didn't care though. This was who she was and she figured one day they'd thank her - if she ever saw those people again that is. The girl was no miracle maker, but she did her best. Now that she wasn't in San Diego any more Juliet would have to find new enemies. And even though she was kind of hoping that there would be no drama in this town, Juliet sorta wished that there was. Nowadays everything was boring and there was nothing to think about when she felt like thinking. The quote, "Be careful what you wish for." Popped into her head. Juliet never really understood what that quote meant until now. One day she'd regret ever wanting drama in her life again and that day could be just around the corner.
----- drama was the last thing on her mind now that she wasn't involved. Since she was a freshman in university, she got stressed out easily. She had it easy compared to the other students on campus though. Juliet was majoring in performing arts and her major didn't require a whole ton of writing or thinking. She just had work on performing and other stuff. Occasionally her professor had the class write an essay about the importance of Shakespeare, but that was easy. Her name was Juliet & her parents were Shakespeare obsessed - that essay couldn't get any easier. But she was in between what to take as a major when she first applied at Wells Beach. Jules was incredibly good at math, science, physics, chemistry. The list could go on and on. Sure, she was good at those subjects and she kind of enjoyed them to. But Juliet felt like those majors weren't what she was set out to take. A lot of people had a thing. Like playing a sport or public speaking, her thing was music / performing. She was more along the lines of music, though. If she was given the chance to choose between writing a song and performing in front of a crowd, she would choose to write a song in a split second. Juliet wasn't the best with crowds and when she graduated university, she expected her small stage fright fear to disappear. Her biggest performance type thing was at a school play, which she auditioned to by accident. Even then she was nervous to get on stage but she knew if she backed out, she would regret doing that all her life. Juliet was obviously right, considering performing arts was her thing now and she was 100% positive she wasn't going to change her mind. It was kind of ironic, though because she was the quiet type at university. Juliet was still kind of stuck in her shell in class. In fact, she wasn't even friends with a lot of the people in her class. She tried once or twice to associate with the different cliques at the university, but she could tell the status quo wasn't going to change for her once more. Many people around her grew up in Maine and had their childhood friends with them 24/7, Jules wished that was the same for her. But she left everything as it should be and left those people alone. The last thing she wanted was for people to call her a third wheel when she didn't intend to be.
----- juliet smiled a bit and looked at Matt. Maybe her friend situation was going to change now that she knew that he was in Wells Beach as well. The coincidence that both of them were in the same state was unreal. She thought that she would never see him again and the only way she could possibly communicate with him was through msn or the phone. But he was here, standing right there in front of her. Juliet knew it was kind of awkward, with the break up - she didn't really care though. They were still friends and even though she didn't like to say it, them being friends was the best thing. Well, at least that was what he had told her. The girl continued to look up at him as she heard him reply to her earlier question. I got here a couple months ago. I own one of the beach houses down the road. Jules shook her head in disbelief. That was impossible! She lived in one of the beach houses to and never saw him when she moved in. Plus she had lived there for a couple of months and not once had she seen him. Juliet couldn't believe how oblivious she was to the people around her. "Seriously? No joke. Wow I should really pay attention to my neighbors. I live in that house right there," She turned and pointed in the direction of where she lived. Juliet laughed, "Well I got here when school started up again. I go to the university in town and started first semester. Wait a minute," Jules looked him dead in the eye, "You don't go there to do you? Because if you do I'm going crazy because I haven't seen you there. Or.. I'm just really into my work. Except that second option is highly unlikely and kind of impossible." She added jokingly.

tell me why i can't seem to face the truth i'm just a little too not over you - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - During his life Matthew had always been surrounded by people who knew him. Being the captain of the basketball team made it that way because it caused him to be one of the most popular guys at the high school. It's not that he overly enjoyed having such a high status on the social ladder he just liked having tons of people to talk to. Having tons of friends. Moving to Wells Beach changed that. He had been here for a while now but he still didn't know that many people. There were guys on the team that he talked to, same with the people in his classes but there was no one that he had just clicked with yet. However thankfully he wasn't entirely alone, he still had Alexis. She was quite the character and happened to be the young man's best friend. It was weird because the two had known each other forever especially since she was a cheerleader but they never started to actually hang out until their senior year of high school. Matt was thrilled that they did because after being friends with her he could barely figure out how he had survived all of those years with out her. She was amazing! They had so much in common and had a crazy similar sense of humor. They joked around constantly and loved to tease one another but still if they needed to be serious they could be. Some people would suggest to them that being a couple would be a good idea but when hearing that it just made the two laugh. Them dating would be incredibly strange. The feeling was definitely mutual, they found that they seemed more like family than anything else. She was kind of like a sister to him. After graduating the two friends had decided to move to Maine together, that way their friendship would have a better chance at lasting.
Matthew was now a college freshman. High school was officially over. It was but a thing of the past although high school had definitely helped him get into the university in Wells. During a few of his last couple basketball games there had been scouts present. After seeing him in his natural setting, doing the thing that he loved they offered him a scholarship. Matt, along with his parents had been thrilled because it had been quite the honor to get a scholarship to this school. They had a great program so it would be a wonderful opportunity for him. It was a good thing that he had gotten in on the scholarship because at the time had hadn't known what to major in. There were different subjects that he was good at like math, science and history but he knew that they weren't the path for him because truthfully they bored him. History wasn't too bad because he enjoyed learning about previous battles and wars but when it came to learning about the immigration part of it, he didn't care for it. Now the normal jock stereotype made it out to seem that people who were athletic and on sports teams weren't intelligent. That all they could do was bounce around some silly ball and run quickly up and down the court. Matt hated when people thought that way. It annoyed him because it wasn't true. He was majoring in English & Literature. He put on the act that it didn't amuse him, that he felt it was a waste of time writing short stories, learning about grammar and all that jazz but in reality he loved it. Picking out grammar errors and remembering how to spell words came easily to him. The teacher always loved getting a new assignment from him because apparently he had 'a great gift' when it came to writing or at least that's what they told him. For those reasons he had decided to pursue not only a dream of becoming a better basketball player but to also become hopefully a writer some day.
The young boy was in awe right now. That was a definite. He couldn't believe that Juliet was standing right in front of him right now. He had to be dreaming or something because this couldn't be possible. Yet it was! She was even giving him a little smile. This whole meeting up was definitely something that he'd have to talk to Alexis about later on. Maybe the two of them would be able to start hanging out again. It could be just like old times. Or maybe not, there was no way that things could totally be like old times since they were no longer dating. He had broken up with her, stupid mistake, but would that actually ruin their friendship? It shouldn't because if it did then it would be a dumb reason to not be friends. Exes hanging out wasn't entirely strange as long as they broke up on decent or good terms. Matt sorta considered that their break up would fall in that category because it's not like he cheated on her or something, he'd never do a thing like that. After giving her an explanation he waited, trying his best to be patient. Finally hearing her voice again he shook his head, "You're kidding, I had no idea" He said and pushed up his sleeves slightly as he listened to her continue, "Okay I've come up with the conclusion that we suck, how have we not run into each other earlier because I do attend the university here. I'm majoring in English and Literature." He said with a small laugh. It was so weird, just a few days ago they had chatted on msn. He thought that she was miles away when actually she was only minutes away.

he was all i needed and more, then he walked out my door, he went away. left my heart in two. ----- pretty much all her life Juliet was never high class. Unlike a lot of people, the most foreign place she had ever been was Paris and that was only because she had to go for her grandmother's funeral. That was about two years ago and she never left the country since then. Jules kept those two weeks treasured in heart. She knew it was kind of bad, considering she wasn't supposed to be enjoying the trip, but the sites there were absolutely amazing. The Eiffel Tower was even more beautiful than it looked in postcards and at night, when all the lights were sparkling, she kind of wished that she lived in France. Jules wasn't extremely fluent in French, but she did get an A+ in that subject when she took it as a course back in high school. But France was way too far away from all her friends. Chances were she wouldn't fit in one bit and the only way she would fit in was if she suddenly gained a French accent - which was highly unlikely. If she had the money, she would go there whenever she had the chance, however she was no millionaire. Juliet already spent a lot of her savings when she bought her own place by the ocean a few months ago so going back to Paris was kind of impossible. With the money she had left, she would be lucky if she could fly back to San Diego to visit her family. Plus she didn't want to go beg her parents for money either. Jules didn't like depending on them a whole lot because she didn't really need to. If she did that would mean that she wasn't responsible enough to handle her own money. Her mom would give her that 'i told you so' face and Juliet hated when she was given that face. She hated being proved wrong and never really admitted fault. You could give her anything in the world and she still wouldn’t say she did something wrong. It wasn’t in Juliet’s nature to give in and lose an argument. Even if it was something completely random & pointless, she liked things ending off the way she wanted it to.
----- like the other night when she was debating with Matthew which flavor was better: chocolate or vanilla. She chose vanilla, obviously. It was much better than chocolate, but she didn't hate the flavor. Vanilla was her and Juliet's dads favorite flavor. When he was alive, he used to take her out for ice cream after school and since they were both Vanilla lovers, they got something Vanilla-like. Juliet's mom and little sister were the chocolate lovers in the family and just like Matt & Jules did the other night, they always argued about which flavor was the best for fun. That was why she had such fabulous points in their conversation - she had some practice. Obviously she wasn't going to admit that to Matt though. The thought of Vanilla ice cream always reminded her about her father and his smile, his laugh. She truly missed him and she wished he was there to see her graduate. Her father was always a huge inspiration in her life. He was the person who made her realize that she was in love with music. And before he died on the day of her birthday, he had bought Juliet her first guitar. That guitar was still with her, in fact that was her only guitar. She was never going to get rid of that instrument, it was her good luck charm. It was also the only thing left that her dad had given to her. All of the other stuff from her dad were outdated, like dolls, teddy bears and an old iPod mini. Now those things were ancient and the guitar he gave her was the only thing that actually worked. Juliet would carry it around every second of the day if she could, but it was a bit big to hold around all the time. Somehow, playing music seemed to make Jules think that her dad was still alive and that the drunk driver hadn’t hit him. Whenever she strummed a chord or sang a song it was like he was still there with her and he was listening. She would do anything to have him back again – it was too bad she couldn’t do the impossible.
----- juliet looked out at the water, then back at Matt as he spoke. Okay I've come up with the conclusion that we suck, how have we not run into each other earlier because I do attend the university here. I'm majoring in English and Literature. Right now she wasn't sure what was going on, but Juliet was expecting that it was fate. There was no other explanation. Then again, fate could be the reason why they didn't bump in to each other until now. What if this was a complete accident and she wasn't even supposed to see him tonight? What if she should have chosen a different university to go to? The girl's mind was filled with 'What ifs' but she couldn't help but wonder.. That didn't mean that she wasn't glad to see Matt here. She wouldn't be as lonely now and university would almost be the same as high school - except it would be in a new building & with new people. Juliet turned her attention back to Matt when she heard that he was majoring in English and Literature. A confused look came upon her face, "Huh? Oh I just thought that you would be doing basketball 24/7." She said, "I'm majoring in performing arts, all the other majors just didn't suit me. I'm no business person and I'm not the best at law. And I won't do medicine because me+sick people = a bad idea." Jules laughed a bit and waited for what he was going to say next.

tell me why i can't seem to face the truth i'm just a little too not over you - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Things were different now in the family department. Moving away was something that his parents had always expected. His mother never liked the idea. Matt knew that she had hated talking about it even back when he was little. He couldn't blame her though since he was her only child. With him gone her nest would be empty so to speak. She had always said that he could stay with them forever if he wanted to and as much as he loved his parents there was no way that he could accept that offer. During college a person would want to have their own place to live, a place where it wouldn't matter who came over or at what time. Basically a place where you had control over the rules. It's not that Matthew was going to throw some insanely big house party because that wasn't something he'd do. He wasn't that in to partying, usually he'd only go to one if someone dragged him there. But that wasn't the point, you don't just live with your parents forever. It'd be lame. The young man wasn't going to stay away forever now, even though he had moved miles away from them he was still their son. Over certain breaks he might pay a visit, Thanksgiving and Christmas he would definitely head home (there was no way he'd be able to miss those dinners). Matthew just knew that he was on his own now. He had to balance things like school work, basketball and money. Speaking of money he was going to have to get a serious job soon. Back in San Diego he had worked at the Mall, there had been a music store that he was the assistant manager at. It had good pay, maybe he could find something similar to that here. Some sort of part time job would be good because right now he was basically living off of his savings and college loans. That money wouldn't last forever so he'd have to start checking wanted ads soon.
Standing there with Juliet the young man still was having trouble comprehending this. He knew that it was real but still. Wells Beach was the last place that he expected to see her. Back when they were together her acceptance letters had rolled in and there had been many of them. Universities from all over the world were happy to let her attend their learning programs. Maine was so plain compared to some places she could've went to. Matthew wasn't complaining though, he was happy to see her again. This might make things awkward but they'd get around that wouldn't they? The two had been friends before they dated so surely they could be friends again. As the thoughts about them being friends now flew through his mind he couldn't help but let his glance fall upon her. She still looking beautiful, even more than before yet in a way she still looked the same. She still had that happy essence about her, the only thing that had actually changed was that she appeared to look slightly older. But then he must looked older too considering it had been ages since they had last seen one another. Pulling his gaze off of her he looked out at the ocean and pondered a thought. Could he be just friends with her? After being with her for so long was it possible? What if his emotions took over causing him to act on feeling and not think things through. He wouldn't want to do or say something that would push her away even more. "It's kinda more like 20/7 now" He joked, "It's high on my priorities but so is my writing." Matt added as he began to listen while she spoke.
Listening attentively as she told him about what she was majoring in now he smiled, "Performing arts eh? That's not surprising" He commented keeping the smile on his face. It definitely wasn't shocking to hear that, that was her major. Matt obviously knew about her love for music so in a way it would've been a little weird if she had chosen a different path since she was a very talented performer. When she mentioned about her and sick people being a bad idea Matt laughed. She was laughing too, it felt nice to be able to laugh along with her again. There had been many occasions where they would both get into laughing fits. It would happen to one of them at least every time they hung out. "Well.. you never know maybe you could've been a surgeon! Oh wait, forget that. If you were a surgeon the only thing that would come out of that would be a new tv show called surgeries gone wrong" Matthew teased while his normal goofy grin formed on his lips. While waiting for her reaction to that comment he couldn't help but look around at the ocean again. The scenery was pretty, it wasn't like California but still it had a nice calm vibe to it. Plus the sun was beginning to set which made everything even better. Turning back to face Juliet he began to speak, "So do you wanna go for a walk?" He asked casually considering they had been standing in the same spot for a while now. It seemed like a normal thing to do since that's what most people would do when they came to the beach at this time of night.
