kadence leanna millerdeep i n s i d e I know that's true i'm stuck in t i m e, stuck on you we were still u n t o u c h a b l e The the air was cool, but then again, it was 5 am in Wells Beach. It was the time that the early birds rose to get their shopping done on the market. It was the time for the fishermen to present their catches to the public to see if they can make some cash off it. That's what this small town thrived on. The fishing business and there was nothing wrong with that, fish was a good product. However for Kadence, she was just looking for a little inspiration. The redhead moved down the walk, her hair tossing around her face as she held a notebook in her arms and a pen in her left hand. Left handed people have been proven to be more creative than those who are right handed. Then again, it's also been suggested that they die faster, so something has to give and take right? You're creative, but you get to die first. Not necessarily a fair trade if you think about it.
She walked down the boardwalk as she took in the scent of salt and fish. It could be considered a disgusting scent, but not for Kadence who has lived here her entire life. She was used to this and the merchants were used to her ratty black converse leaving foot prints on the wet wood. She waved to a few fishermen that she was acquainted with before moving along, her hair tossing in the wind. She looked down at her outfit of dark washed blue jeans, old black converse sneakers, a Van Halen t-shirt, with her red cardigan over the top of it. She had a rain coat on her arm so she was prepared for unexpected weather to erupt while she was on her walk. She loved the atmosphere of this small town, where everyone knew everyone. Still, it was hard to keep a secret around here.
Like Bryce. Summer had been a time for the both of them to really see what each other wanted. Bryce and Kadence have known each other for so long, this romance thing was new to them. But after the summer, things got weird, different between the pair. She was still in high school and Bryce, well, wasn't. She felt like a little girl around him, despite the fact that she was crazy mature for her age. She was more mature than Bryce in some respects, but that didn't stop the fact that she was a teenager, heading for college after graduation. Now, their relationship was undefined, a work in progress, and untitled. That drove Kadence completely insane and she just wanted to know what he wanted. Did he want to be with her? Or did he just want to chalk the past summer up to hormones and a good time? That would devastate Kadence, it would almost destroy her. Kadence didn't do the friends with benefits thing, she wasn't into that at all.
Maybe she was just not the type of girl he wanted to get seriously involved with. She was very small. She was short, skinny as hell, and just awkward looking. She wasn't one of those tall, curvy girls that all the boy wanted. She was just skinny, she didn't have all the right curves, she was just a little slip of a thing. Twiggy would be proud. Kadence sighed as she thought about all the other things that could be potentially wrong with her when she side stepped fish sludge. It was pink and gross, but she wasn't disturbed by it at all. She was used to all of the goings on in this town by now. Eighteen years here, you get used to the smells and events.
"Hey Billy." Kadence greeted a fisherman as he approached, giving her a one armed hug as he asked about her parents and Kadence just responded with a good and he went on with his life. Kadence's parents were very liked people within the town. They were school teachers and overall kind people. That and Kadence thought her father had a pot plant growing somewhere and he was providing the town with the wacky tobaccy. The thought caused her shake her head and laugh a little. She could write a short story about a school teacher father dealing marijuana to Wells Beach. Then, the redhead slowly looked up from her muddy converse to see the form of a young man approaching and it was like everything went into slow motion. Her lips parted gently in wonder as she stared at the man coming toward her as her pen slowly slid from her fingertips and onto the wet wood floor boards beneath her.

Bryce Kennedy QuinnFate fell s h o r t this time, your s m i l e
Fades in the s u m m e r , place your h a n dIn m i n e , I'll leave when I w a n n a . Bryce stretched his arms high over his head with a sleepy yawn as he grabbed his coat and headed outside for his daily morning run. He hadn't been able to sleep very well lately, probably because there was a song stuck in his head that he couldn't quite get down on paper. It was an unfinished tune that was slowly driving him mad and his musical muse wasn't being very gentle with him. Something must be missing. Little did he know that it was actually someone that he was missing. He'd just gotten back from visiting his hometown a few days ago and he couldn't say that he didn't miss it sometimes, even if he did grow up here. You always remembered where you came from, it was just one of those things. But after last summer, he began to realize that there was more for him here. It wasn't very long before he became a bit short of breath, since he was an avid smoker, a habit that he would certainly have to kick.
He made his way into the marketplace, deciding to give his eyes something to look at. He was also hoping against hope that he would spot someone there. Someone in particular. They had been friends for a while, so he knew where she went to get her muse going, if she was still writing. He didn't remember a time when Kadence wasn't writing down something or another, so there wasn't really an if. The gentle breeze sifted through his messy light brown hair, one that he had neglected to trim in a while. Being a musician, it just seemed more fitting to have longer hair. Not to mention that he liked the idea of a girl running her fingers through his hair, not that he'd used the term girlfriend in ages. There was last summer though. He wasn't quite sure what happened, but somehow he'd ended up by her side, only to see himself drifting apart from her afterwards.
Pretty damn ironic, right?
But Bryce wasn't avoiding her like most guys did after something like that. No, he simply just had another agenda. She was still in school and he wasn't, at least not in high school anymore, so... well, okay. So he had been a bit apprehensive about seeing her again. Maybe even scared. He'd been through so many twisted relationships that he expected this one to go down the same way. But was it right to not even give them a chance? It wasn't like they would end up like his parents. They had gotten a divorce, even after looking like the happiest couple on the planet. Maybe that had jinxed him. But he couldn't run forever. He would have to face her sooner or later. And truth be told, he missed seeing her face, talking to her, being around her. She was the very essence of his being, his other half, his best friend.
Bryce was a gentleman and an old soul, but that didn't mean that he knew what he wanted all of the time. It had taken him a while to finally admit that he was good at music, not just drawn to it, before he pursued it openly. For a long time, he'd played the guitar isolated in his room, or the piano in the study when his parents weren't home. He didn't want to disappoint his father, who had also been a musician, but more into percussion. But he knew that he wanted to be with Kadence. He didn't know how to tell her, by god help him, but he wanted to formalize their relationship. The problem was, did she feel the same way? He thought that he knew everything there was to know about her, but suddenly, he feared the worst. He wasn't exactly classically handsome. He was just there. Mysterious.
He wasn't really watching where he was going, since he knew this town like the back of his hand, but something stopped him and told him to look up. Stopping in his tracks as a small group of fishermen moved infront of him with a long rack of fish hanging off of hooks, the musician didn't blink as his gaze locked on Kadence. A warm smile overtook his features, spreading across his lips like wildfire as he moved forward, gaining in speed as he narrowly avoided crashing into people. Before he knew it, he was just inches away from her, looking like a sailor lost at sea. Was he hallucinating, or was she actually standing there? Once he was close enough to sense her body heat, he picked her up into his arms, his gaze never breaking from hers as he forgot all about his doubts. He could still remember the way that her hand fit into his, how well their lips locked together, and her body curled up by his side as he watched over her.
And suddenly as he held her in his arms, his previous fear was gone, just like that. ( LYRICS ) feeling this - blink-182 ( TAG ) kady-lac bby aka bree-a-bean ( WORD COUNT ) dunno, finito w/o codes ftw ( NOTES ) she ish pretty. i heart epic, lol. && i heart them too, they ish wicked =].

kadence leanna millerdeep i n s i d e I know that's true i'm stuck in t i m e, stuck on you we were still u n t o u c h a b l e It felt like the marketplace had heated up as Kadence looked at Bryce's advancing form. She had forgotten his morning run routine, but she didn't know if he was going to come this way. Did he did it on purpose? Did he wanted to run into her? Was everything finally going to be brought out into the open? There were times when Kadence wished she was just a little bit older. Being in high school seemed to make her less appealing, seeing as how she was still a 'kid' in some people's eyes. She was still little Kady, the aspiring for greatness girl who had it in her. Her parents were always so encouraging, telling her to go forth and do whatever she wanted with her life. But when Kadence wanted something, it always seemed to go wrong. Why? She didn't know but as she watched the tall young man making his way toward her, she felt her heart starting to race as the distance between them began to close.
What was he going to say? Was he going to say that he was sorry, that he wanted to be with her? Or was he going to tell her that he just wanted to be friends? Kadence wasn't sure if she could handle that. Just being friends with Bryce. They had been friends this entire time before they hooked up. Did Kadence regret it? No, because the time they did share together had been the best of her life. She just wished that it didn't have to end. Bryce was the glue to her heart, he was the reason she even gave a damn about her future. She wanted to make something of herself, but only because Bryce gave her that strength to do so. What could she do without it? Not much, since no artist was worth anything without their muse.
Kadence's fears had been dashed the moment she felt Bryce lift her into his arms. A small squeak left her lips before she smiled at Bryce, her arms wrapping around his neck slowly, her notebook resting against his back as she locked her legs around his waist, her green eyes looking into his dark ones for a lingering moment. She released the notebook and it hit the wood floor boards by her pen and her smile was wide as she moved her hands to run down his face slowly. Her thumbs caressed his cheeks gently as one of them ran over his lips. They weren't Kadence and Bryce the pals anymore.
"About time, Quinn." Kadence whispered, her lips quivering before she leaned forward and let her lips claim his deeply. Her hands slid up through his hair before she wrapped one of her arms around his neck while the other tangled in his unruly hair. Her slender body pressed against his as she kissed him with all she had. She wanted to show him that she wasn't just a little girl, that she was a woman in love. In love with him and only him. She then pulled away slowly, her hand caressing his neck slowly as the other stroked his hair for a moment before she looked into his eyes.
God, he could reduce her to a puddle on the floor with those eyes.
Kadence groaned before it morphed into a giggle as she looked around as some of the fishermen had stopped to watch them. Kadence giggled again and rested her head against his as some of the men and women clapped and shouted congratulations to them. Kadence and Bryce have been in this town for almost their entire lives, so they were pretty well known in this town. Kadence pulled her gaze away from the town to look back down at him, her hands holding his face gently. She then smiled and claimed his lips again, her heart racing against her chest as she ran her hands down his neck slowly as her lips danced against his before she giggled yet again against his lips and wrapped both of her arms around his neck.
No more doubt, no more fear, just each other and she was finally happy. She finally found that inspiration she had come out here for, thanks to the messy haired punk that held her tightly in his embrace. Funny how things work out that way.

Bryce Kennedy QuinnFate fell s h o r t this time, your s m i l e
Fades in the s u m m e r , place your h a n dIn m i n e , I'll leave when I w a n n a . Bryce wasn't sure what to say, in all honesty. He wished that there was a guide book for these types of things, filled with all the right things to say. But there wasn't. He didn't regret what they'd done together, it had been the best summer of his life. To be that close to someone, to be on that level to where you trusted them completely... well, it was amazing. She wasn't just some random face off the street either. He knew her name, her age, her likes, her dislikes, and where she went to school. He knew what made her smile, what ticked her off, and he knew the way that her fingers fit together when they entwined. There was no good apology for disappearing from her life for any amount of time, one which seemed like forever ago now that they were so close. They had been friends, but once the opportunity arose to become more than that, they'd taken it.
But apparently he wasn't ready then, running back to his hometown for a while to try and figure things out. But that only made him realize that he couldn't be without her. When he felt her in his arms again, he knew that he had done the right thing in coming back. His smile seemed to stretch from ear to ear at her small noises of excitement, feeling her arms wrapped around his neck as he clasped his hand securely over the other to hold her up. For once, he didn't pay much attention to his surroundings, and suddenly, the whole notion of pda made sense to him. It hadn't before, but you never really understood anything completely until you felt it yourself. He heard the notebook hit the ground, but he was too lost in her gaze to acknowledge it.
Bryce wanted to stop time right then. When her fingertips ran down his face, tracing over his cheeks and his lips, he felt himself grinning as he leaned into the feather light sensation that caused pinpricks to surface on his skin. Her touch was electric. He wasn't sure how he'd managed to stay away from her for so long. He'd managed to replay her voicemails and reading through old texts or emails to try and break this sudden addiction that he had to her. This fixation that didn't let up. But the more he tried to cut back on his Kady dose, the worse it got. He had known her for far too long and now he was hooked. No other girl interested him, not even in his dreams. The only thing he could think about was how beautiful she had looked the last day of summer, even if the summer here couldn't compare to the ones back home.
When he looked into her eyes, he found his home, a new home.
Then he heard her voice, the one that he'd tried to recreate so many times in his mind, but it never came out right when her face wasn't on the other end. His lips parted to speak, but she captured them before he could utter a single word, kissing her back just as intensely. His vision seemed to blur out of focus as his eyelids slid down, covering his dark gaze from the world as he concentrated on her taste. His grip around her waist seemed to tighten a bit, but not enough to cause her frail body any harm. Her fingers through his hair made him grin into the kiss. She remembered. He could sense her powerful message as she took his breath away, but he continued without it. It was only when she pulled away that his eyes peeled back open, staring back at her as his upper teeth gently toyed with his bottom lip, before he licked them to taste her remnants.
Bryce was quick to notice that other people were watching them, but instead of shying away from pda, he didn't mind it at all. Not right now. In fact, he even felt a little devious. He felt her hair fall into her face as her head rested against his, one of his hands reaching up to brush her stray tresses behind her ear, before smiling as he looked around at the gathering masses. How had all of these people known, when he'd been so blind to it himself? It was a small town, but still, he didn't think that their chemistry had been that obvious to everyone else. He felt her lips press against his again, to which he quickly complied, his heart speeding up to catch up with the pace that hers had set. It wasn't long before they were beating in sync, both of her arms wrapped around his neck now.
"I missed you, Kady," he said with a smile as he looked back at her, still holding her in his arms. "Hungry? We should go do breakfast or something," he suggested with a quirked brow as he tilted his head slightly to the side. He then grinned lightly, knowing that it would probably make her giggle what he was about to say next. "Even if the appetizer was delicious." He leaned forward to kiss her lightly on the lips, nuzzling her nose before pulling back a bit. He knew that she would probably want to talk about them, which he was in complete agreement, but if they remained here, they would just continue making out. And as much as he enjoyed it, he wanted to tell her about how he didn't want to be without her again. kadence leanna millerdeep i n s i d e I know that's true i'm stuck in t i m e, stuck on you we were still u n t o u c h a b l e The thunder roared over the beach party as teens and other young adults scrambled to their cars or to find shelter somewhere. However, for Kadence Miller, she took the in the rain and smiled brightly as it poured down on the beach. The rain poured heavily, making the bonfire flicker as she turned her body to look across the beach at her best friend Bryce. Lately, the redhead has been thinking of her best friend in ways that weren't friendly at all. She had feelings for him, always has, but lately, since the summer had began, things have been really different.
The thunder roared again and the lightning lit up the sky. She looked to see that Bryce was coming toward her, his eyes were intense and she could feel her body as it angled toward him slowly. Then, as if it were all a movie, the lightning lit up the sky and the thunder roared across the sky as Bryce grabbed the side of her wet face and kissed her hard and passionately. The slender girl melted into him as she kissed him back, her hands cupping his scratchy face as she got lost in the moment.
The way he said that he missed her was enough to make Kadence swoon for him. His voice was velvetly calming as she felt his hands on her small form, holding her up from falling to the wet ground. She didn't want this moment to end, despite the fact that they were in public. Then the man suggested they went to breakfast. She needed to remember that she got up at the crack of dawn this morning and that it was still breakfast time. She looked around and watched as everyone had pretty much gone back to their normal business before she turned back to Bryce as she bit down on her bottom lip in mock contemplation. Then he spoke again and she erupted into laughter and she shook her head.
"Charming. Actually I could definitely eat, yes." And begrudgingly, Kadence released herself from Bryce. She looked to the notebook and pen before deciding to dismiss them. She looked up at him carefully before she reached and took his hand in her own. She then started to walk down the pathway as she decided that they would go to the diner that was just around the corner. She was happy to have him back in her life. She leaned her head against his shoulder as the pair walked toward the diner, her shoes soaked from the remnants of the rain fall the night before and yet all she could think about was the big hand in hers.
"So, how was Florida? I know it was better there than here, but how was it? Pretty weather...pretty beachbum women..." She said as she made a silly joke as she lead him up to the diner door. She pushed the door open as the two entered and she nodded to the waitress who smiled to them before noticing Bryce. The waitress mouthed something to Kadence who mouthed 'later' to her before she looked back up at Bryce as she moved them to a booth and she slid into it and exhaled with a smile on her face. She was happy to have him back but she just hoped that things would stay this good. They would have their ups and downs, like any normal couple, but she didn't want things to go wrong. She just hoped that she was good enough. As silly as that sounded, it was her honest to god fear.

Bryce Kennedy QuinnFate fell s h o r t this time, your s m i l e
Fades in the s u m m e r , place your h a n dIn m i n e , I'll leave when I w a n n a . It was hard for Bryce to take his eyes off of her. A part of him almost feared that she would disappear off the face of the earth if he did. She hadn't really changed much, but since it had been a while since he'd been this close to her, he started to notice the little things. Like how her eyes glimmered under the early sunlight, if she had any cute stray freckles on her face as a consequence of her red hair, and the way that her smile developed into one of the most beautiful things he's ever seen. He was head over heels for this girl and that's exactly what had scared him off before. He was so in love with her that his emotions had overwhelmed him. It was easy to fear the unknown, but it was much more rewarding to face it. And, in his case, embrace it.
He waited patiently for her response, not wanting to press her too much or move things too fast. He had been the one to run away and he felt a little guilty for that, so he was being extra careful. His dark brown eyes moved down to her lips and a grin spontaneously appeared on his expression, knowing what the answer would be, but anxious to hear it anyway. Yes, that was a good word to use. Anxious. He was hanging on her every word, so when she laughed, his eyes widened slightly in confusion as he went blank, forgetting his remark from before. As it sunk in, he discovered that her adorable laughter was contagious and gave in to the disease that seemed to start at his feet, travel up his spine, and tickle his throat. She had all kinds of effects on him, so it was pretty hard to pinpoint a single one. But he enjoyed every single one, even when she left him slightly flustered when seconds turned into minutes in his hyperactive mind as he awaited a semi-critical response from her.
Time seemed to slow down considerably whenever she kissed him, but it was a blur when there was silence between them. So she even had control of the time. Was it true, or was it all just in his head, the work of cupid and a little thing called love? He wasn't sure, but he couldn't wait to find out.
"Okay," Bryce said with a warm smile, turning his head to look down at their hands as they came together as one. It felt like it belonged there all along, holding her smaller one. He wasn't sure why the contact was so desirable, but it just felt right, you know? He liked the little things. In many ways, he could be considered an old soul. He wondered why it was different when he shook hands with someone else. What made her hand so important? Had she left her fingerprints on his skin the first time they'd touched, making it impossible for anyone else to fit the mold? It sounded ridiculous, but it was amusing too. He barely noticed where they were going, letting her lead the way, watching as they approached the diner. He felt her head on his shoulder, a smile curving his lips once more and he bowed his head to kiss the top of her head, before they approached the door.
"Florida may have alot of things, but it was missing something very important," he stated as he looked at her, missing the comment between her and the waitess. He just left it at that, knowing that she would probably pick up on it. Immediately, it felt alot cooler in there after they entered and his nerves settled a bit at the familiar sights. It was a day of nostalgia, it seemed. Florida didn't have Kadence, and without her, nothing else seemed to matter. Regardless of the weather, rain or shine, he had been absolutely miserable. Walking down the shore of the beach suddenly wasn't as exciting without her by his side, losing its magic and that feeling that he got from watching the sunset on the sand with her. He followed her to the booth she had chosen, taking a seat across from her, not even glancing at the menu. He was pretty content with just looking at her. kadence leanna millerdeep i n s i d e I know that's true i'm stuck in t i m e, stuck on you we were still u n t o u c h a b l e The waitress happened to be one of Kadence's school friends, the girl that was with the redhead most of the time when Bryce had taken off to Florida. She had listened to the girl complain about missing him and why he had just decided to take off like that. She knew that they had just been having a fling over the summer, but it was hard to just fling with someone when you had genuine feelings for that person. She knew that going into a relationship like that with someone you've known almost your entire life, it tended to make friendships a bit more difficult to hold onto. Yet, when she looked at the man before her, she wanted to be with him forever. She may be young, but she did know what she wanted and that was definitely Bryce. Everything was beginning to fall back into place for Kadence and she couldn't help but want to smile. When they reached the booth, it felt odd to just be sitting in front of him. Lustful couples seemed to always want to have their hands all over each other. When it came to Kadence and Bryce, they still seemed to retain that friendship all the while holding onto that urge lean over the table and grab each other.
Thought of his words, a permanent smile on her lips as she thought about it. He had spent his time in Florida missing her. That made the entire situation that much more bareable now in her mind. She had not been alone in the missing. She had been missed as well and that made her feel a warmth in her heart. She just wished he had come home earlier. She waited however, never wanting to let go of the possibility of them being more than what they had been. People thought she was an idiot for waiting for him like that, but she could tell them to eat their words nwo, seeing as how he had returned to her. They were now back to how they were supposed to be. Being in love wasn't supposed to be easy, it was supposed to be about overcoming obstacles and being together through it all.
She looked across the table at Bryce before she yanked the menu to her before seeing the waitress approaching them. She slid the other menu over to the taller man as she looked over the choices. It was ridiculous to be looking at this, seeing as how she wasn't all that spontaneous about food. She was a regular here so she never really ordered anything else. She looked to the waitress with a bright smile as she set the menu down.
"Coffee, black, with the pancakes and peanut butter. Oh! and I want whip cream too." She said winked to the waitress. The girl just giggled and turned to Bryce as she looked him over. Kadence leaned her elbows on the table and rested her chin on her folded hands. She could stare at him forever but she knew how weird that sounded. She looked at her napkin as she toyed with her fork between her fingers. She looked up slowly to Bryce as she waited for him to order.

Bryce Kennedy QuinnFate fell s h o r t this time, your s m i l e
Fades in the s u m m e r , place your h a n dIn m i n e , I'll leave when I w a n n a . Bryce knew that they had only complicated their summer by having a fling, but in some ways it also put things into a clearer perspective. He had finally given in to the feelings that he'd felt for her since the moment he laid eyes on her, and when all was said and done, he found that he couldn't stop thinking about her. A fling was supposed to be a spontaneous union between two people and nothing else, right? There were no strings attached, no feelings, nothing besides lust and a mutual understanding of the rules that weren't written down on a piece of paper. But even after knowing all of this, Bryce didn't think of their night as a fling. He didn't forget it or move on to the next girl. In fact, he'd passed up on a few women back home who had always wanted to make him theirs, sensing his loneliness that came with being home without your lover and hoping to take advantage of it. But Bryce had other plans.
So he locked himself up and dwelled in his thoughts, letting his brown hair grow out a bit longer and more unruly, a light, prickly shadow now on his face. He just couldn't get over what he felt for Kadence. It was far too strong. It wasn't just a fling, it was his best friend, his infatuation, his life. Yet he didn't think twice about leaving her behind, later regretting his decision and returning to Wells Beach. He was lucky that she hadn't given up on him. He wouldn't have been able to blame her if she had hooked up with someone else, although it would have hurt him a great deal. Truth be told, it would have broken his heart, because it belonged to her all along. The problem was that neither of them knew it yet.
As he sat across from her, Bryce found himself staring at her features, everything else blurring around of focus around them. He remembered dreaming about that face, and those lips, and words being uttered from them that he thought at that point that he'd never hear. Had things changed that much between them? Was it finally their time? It almost felt like he'd been trying forever. Like if in another life, he'd been trying to spill his guts to her, but either an untimely death ripped him away from her or he just ran out of time. He took the menu that was handed over to him and propped it open on the tabletop, though he was planning to pull the usual 'I'll have whatever she's having' deal.
He looked up when the waitress returned, offering her a gentle smile as he listened to Kadence order her meal. "I'll have the same, thank you," he said after a small pause, handing the waitress his menu and then turning to look back at Kady, who was propped up on her arms and looking quite adorable. He couldn't repress a chuckle as he found her staring at him, before doing the same.
"So, I believe we have alot to catch up on," Bryce said carefully with slightly narrowed brown eyes as the glare of a car turning into the parking lot right outside bothered his eyes. He blinked a few times, rubbing his eyes, before looking back at her. Yep, she was still there. "And we should talk... about us." He then moved his head from his current position and drapped his arm over the table, opening his hand to hold hers, but letting her make the move. He never wanted to push her to do anything. "About this... because apparently, it's been a long time coming and the whole town knows it." He smiled sheepishly, glancing down at the table for a moment, before licking his lips and looking back up at her with his brown eyes. "But I don't want to be blind anymore, Kady."
