----- juliet Calloway let out a groan as she turned her head to look at her alarm clock. The girl pressed the snooze button and closed her eyes once more. After waking up a couple hours earlier and realizing that there was no way she was getting out of bed, the girl decided to stay in bed for a little bit longer. She wasn’t exactly sure why, but she woke up sick - really sick. The time on her clock read 4:00 pm and already her day was messed up. Instead of waking up, eating breakfast, watching tv, then going to the university - Juliet was stuck in bed the entire day sleeping. Even after practically fourteen hours of being in bed, her cold didn’t seem to be going away. Usually she never got sick, but when she did it was never pretty. It was a good thing she didn’t have the flu because that would mean she would be stuck at home for at least two and a half weeks. This was the first time Juliet got sick when living in Wells Beach and Jules was extremely grateful for that. Juliet would do anything not be behind in her classes at university – it would be too stressful. Today was different, though. When Juliet woke up sick in the morning, she had a shower, got ready then took some medicine. Because Juliet was the forgetful person that she was, she forgot to check if the medicine she took was drowsy or non-drowsy and lucky her – it made her drowsy. Then before she knew it, Juliet was curled up back in her bed and sleeping like a baby. Beeeep beeeeep beeeeeeep beeeeeeep! After hearing her alarm go off for the second time in the past ten minutes, she turned it off then sat on the edge of her bed. Now that she was well rested and wasn’t drowsy anymore, Juliet could finally get out of bed. Classes were over by this time and that gave her a reminder to phone around some people in her class so she would know what was missed while she was away. The girl stood up and shivered. The heater was on and she was still wrapped up in her blanket. It didn’t matter if it was warm outside by the ocean because Juliet was still really cold. Such good weather was being put to no use for her today. Jules stepped out of her room and glanced out her window, hoping that the weather would stay that way just a little bit longer until she got better.
----- there was nothing on the planet that would make Juliet want to leave her house today. She could admire the nice weather from her window, but she wasn't going to step out of her door. Jules didn't want to risk getting somebody else sick by accidently sneezing and spreading her germs. The girl entered her living room and sat on one of the couches in front of the tv. After reaching for the remote, Juliet began flipping through a couple of channels. It was rerun season again and she strongly disliked when all the big tv productions decided to start doing reruns again – especially if all the tv shows were doing it at the same time. Everything seemed out of place this afternoon, even the television wasn’t cooperating with her! As she continued to flip through random channels, the girl soon gave up and pressed the power button to shut the tv off. There wasn’t much she could do right now except to wait until she got better. Juliet wasn’t going to settle for that, so instead she got her butt off the couch and pushed herself toward the kitchen. Cooking was no doubt her worst enemy. She could never make a decent meal out of anything that involved the stove, or the oven. But right now she was really hungry and needed something to eat. Jules began looking through her cupboards for something that was warm, something that would keep her from freezing. A can of Campbell’s Chunky Clam Chowder soup came into her sight and immediately, she picked it out of the cupboard. The brunette stared at the can, and then scrambled through the kitchen drawers to find a can opener. “Jackpot…” She said as she opened the can up. Jules was in awe and wondered what the next step was. Obviously she should have paid closer attention when her mom was making soup back home. It could have paid off in situations like this one, but sadly, she was still stuck. What was she going to next? Put it in a pot, then turn on the stove? Or could she just microwave it to save time? But what if that messed up the quality of how good it would taste? Juliet let out a sigh, obviously she wasn’t meant to be cooking right now. So, she just gave up. Her brain was just way too screwed over to make a bowl of soup. Maybe some chips could hold in her hunger for now..
----- now that Jules knew that making herself some food wasn’t going to occupy her time, she decided to phone somebody. She didn’t care who, anybody would do for now. The girl began to flip through her contact list and stumbled upon Matthew Roberts’ name. About a few days ago they had a surprising run in at the beach – that was the last place Juliet thought she would ever see him. But sure enough, he was there and it turned out he was actually one of her neighbors. Juliet chose him as the person she would call and pressed her speed dial #1. The two began talking for at least half an hour before coming to the conclusion that Matt would be coming over to help Juliet with her food crisis. For some reason, he had offered to come over and help her with her food crisis. Not that she was complaining, but it seemed kind of odd. Usually people stayed as far away from sick people as they could if they had the option. Hopefully if he did end up catching her cold, he wouldn’t blame her for it – even if it was her fault. After figuring out that Matt was now in the same town with her again, they started hanging out like they did back in high school. And even though it was a bit awkward from Juliet’s perspective, their friendship almost seemed like old times. Their conversations weren’t as weird now and it was almost as if their breakup didn’t even happen. Jules was fine with them being friends, though. Maybe in the future it would all change again, but for now they were on a pretty good level friendship wise. The girl’s thoughts scrambled in her mind again when she heard somebody knock on her door. Hearing the sound startled her, but she already knew who was there. Juliet got up to her feet and walked toward her doorway. Before opening the door, she looked through the peephole just to make sure that Matt was the person on the other side. Sure enough it was and the brunette opened the door without hesitation. “Somebody’s quick on their feet today. Thanks for coming.” She said as she opened the door wide enough for him to enter in, “I hope I didn’t ruin any of your plans just so that you could come over here.”- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
