Donovan Maxwell EdwardsThere's a f i r e in your eyes, and I h o p e
You'll let it b u r n, there's a s c r e a m inYour v o i c e , and I hope you will be h e a r d . Donovan yawned audibly as he stared up at his bare ceiling, laying on his back as the shadows played across his walls. He wasn't tired though, he was bored out of his mind. He didn't like to be told what to do, so this whole bedtime ordeal that had come up after his parents caught him smoking was really a bust. He didn't see the point in it and it wasn't like they were his real parents. What did they care? Sure, so maybe he was being a little harsh, but he felt alot of resentment. He turned on to his side to look at a picture of him with his foster grandfather, a faint smile lining his lips as he looked at the framed picture. Beside it was a picture of him with his best friend, Angel Warren. They were basically attached at the hip and he had been the one to cause her to rebel and embrace her individualism. Okay, okay, so maybe he was her bad influence, but she loved him anyway, right? He still hoped that was true after the stunt that he was about to pull.
Sitting up, he tossed the covers over the side, gathering his bookbag and some other things to move under the covers, shaping it to resemble a human body. He tilted his head to the side, looking at it from different angles, until he was finally satisfied. Without a second thought, he grabbed his cigarette box, patting his back pocket to make sure that his trusty zippo was there, before grabbing his skateboard and moving over to his window. It was open, since the air conditioning was busted, so technically, he wouldn't have been able to sleep anyway. Tossing his skateboard out his window and watching as it landed on the ground with a low smack, he waited for a few seconds, before leaping off of the roof and landing on his feet. He stayed hunched down for a moment, before grabbing his board and running across the lawn.
Donovan had never been on the track team, but he was an excellent runner. Maybe that's why it was hard for them to catch him when he ran away. Letting the nose of his board hit the floor, he placed one foot on it and pushed himself forward, before skating his way down the sidewalk. She didn't live too far away from him, so he often visited her, sometimes even before school started so that they could walk there together. Somehow, they always got there late though. He knew that her parents must not think too much of him because of his snake bites, but he was always polite to them when he saw them. But he wasn't exactly the manliest looking man ever. But he was male, rest assured. He just wasn't a fan of steroids and dying, kay thanks.
Still, he was the one "corrupting their daughter," so he tried to stay out of their view as much as possible, usually sneaking around.
Once he arrived at her block, he got off of his board so that he wouldn't make too much noise and he looked up at her window. He knew which one by now. The streetlights nearby made his bright blue eyes glimmer slightly in the dark setting as he glanced down at the pebbles beneath his feet. Hmm, no. He pulled out his cellphone, deciding to play it safe, before texting her. "hey, angel-cakes. i'm outside your window... creepy, i know. i'm going all edward cullen on your ass, haha. umm, i'm bored. wanna go to the movies? pwease?" It did take him more than one text to get all of that in, but he tried to be as persuasive as possible. Now all he could do was wait and hope that she would keep him company. If not, he could always... wait, he'd do it anyway. Bringing up his camera phone as he moved to stand near the streetlight, he snapped a picture of himself pouting innocently, before sending it to her with a hushed laugh. How could she say no now? come on get higher ,---------------------------------------------------- slowly turning the fork in her spaghetti, she looked down at it biting on the inside of her lip. dinner always the same at their house, and nothing seemed to change unless a guest was over, and then there was a little bit more talking. but her parents had become frustrated with her decision to become something they were strongly against. but angel saw it as being her own person, and actually enjoyed being the ways he was knowing that people could piss off if they had a problems with her being who she was. angel's sister had been the perfect one, and it brought a drift in between the two, and she really didn't mind that drift away from her sister knowing what a bitch she was around school and everything. she still was the same, but she decide just pretend not to be related. pushing herself away from the table she took her plate, and walked over to the counter setting it there before heading to the stairs. she wasn't going to eat until later knowing that her family would more or less talk once she was gone about her wild behavior or whatever they talked about.
fighting in the warren household was something most really only heard when angel had done something else wrong to her hair or her body. they originally flipped out when she began to shop around with dino and bought shirts that made her "worship the devil" as they called it. skulls in her option weren't evil but to her parents they might as well been. not really caring anymore she repainted her room to a somewhat darker tone, and rearranged her room all the time. but her clothing, and tone had changed thanks to dino. he was the bad influence in her life, and well basically she loved him for changing her. she didn't know what she was missing before now she was actually living out in the world like a human. not some freak who was suppose to act like the perfect little girl in the class room. her parents didn't approve of her ever hanging out with the boy, but it kind of just happened one day. basically since that day the two have been attached at the hip ever since.
she was the goodie two shoes girls falling for the skaterboy that soon became her best friend. he was sweet, funny, and a bit of an ass to top it off. it was a combination that made angel sway for and her parents hated him with a passion. sure, they were all civil to each other, but when they were away from each other her parents would complain about his snake bits, while dino usually complained about how stuck up there were. sighing little she laid on her bed closing her eyes before finally realizing she was kinda of already on dino's side of the whole situation already. rebelling against her parents proved to be tones of fun, plus she got to try and meet people that originally scared the shit out of her. hearing her phone vibrate on her counter she sat up and reached for it before flipping it open and looking at the message. reading it she laughed lightly before setting it back down on the counter, not really thinking it was a good idea.
right as she set it down it vibrated again, and this time it was a picture of him pouting. she couldn't explain why she never was able to say no to his pouty face. it was adorable, and he knew how to work her into saying yes. sighing she went to her closest and pulled on one of her hoodies before moving to the window. her skateboard her parents decide to take away knowing she would hurt herself, which meant she was going to have to walk or somehow the both of them were going to have to fit onto the one he got her on. either was it was going to somewhat of a funny site, either her skateboarding or her riding with dino. grabbing her cellphone, she turned to her bed and tried to make it look like her was sleeping when she wasn't there, but it look deformed, but doubted her parents would check on her. moving to the window she opened it, and put her legs out first before slowly walking along the roof, until she reached the garage and jumped on the roof of it, and then to the ground.
she became an expert of sneaking out of her house, though she had a feeling her parents were just going to go to sleep and not look in on her. though, her sister might be a different story. moving to the outside of her house she saw the boy with the skateboard, and shook her head lightly. somewhat running towards him she jumped on his back, letting her head rest on his shoulder before kissing his cheek lightly. "you can be my edward cullen anyday." letting go of him she looked at him knowing he wanted to go to the movies, but she wasn't sure what was out and was going to let dino surprise her.

Donovan Maxwell EdwardsThere's a f i r e in your eyes, and I h o p e
You'll let it b u r n, there's a s c r e a m inYour v o i c e , and I hope you will be h e a r d . Donovan knew what it was like to have people talk about you behind your back. He was the type of person that you either love or hate, so people rarely fell anywhere in between. He didn't set out to give people a reason to dislike him, in fact, he was pretty friendly, but some people just decided to misjudge him right off the bat and stick with their assumptions. Apart from his snake bites and rebellious behavior, he was actually a pretty good artist. He almost always carried his sketchbook around with him, no matter where he went. This time was an exception only because it was dark outside, so he wouldn't be able to see what he was doing, and he also had to carry his skateboard. Plus, if it rained, he didn't want it to get ruined and for the pages to get all stuck together. Years of art wasted wasn't a pleasant thought. So better to be safe than sorry, at least this time.
He thought that it was wrong how her parents took her board away, without even asking her what she really wanted. Didn't they understand that if it was dangerous, he would care about her enough to advise her against it? It was just a sport, as well as a method of transportation, and it was less dangerous than going out in a car. Car accidents were at a pretty large rate, and unless you tried to pull some tricks, the worst you could do was bust up your knee or something. Big deal, it's not like your brain would spill out on to the sidewalk. Though, hey, those chalk outlines are pretty damn cool. He'd centered one of his works around the idea. But anyway, he knew that they probably didn't really mind the skateboard itself, they were just trying to keep her away from him...
Too bad he didn't feel the same way.
Dino sighed when she didn't respond right away, waiting anxiously for his phone to vibrate with her reply. It didn't happen. He shoved it into the back pocket of his skinny blue jeans, flipping his hair out of his eyes as he stood there, just for a little bit longer. He wasn't one to give up easily and he was almost positive that his last picture message would get to her. He knew her too well. Sometimes he wondered if he enjoyed her company simply because she was the only one that really understood and tolerated him, or because there was something deeper there. It scared him though, to think that he felt differently about his friend. He was so used to being her best friend that when something else stirred in his stomach, it was confusing. But she had grown a bit since they'd known each other, especially in certain places, and although he treated her like just another one of the boys, he always held a certain sweet spot for her.
Yep, none of the guys could boss her around, he'd snap at them without hesitation. She had enough control in her life from her parents, who were always trying to monitor her every move. He knew her sister from school and they'd never gotten along. In fact, although Angel didn't know this, she'd even told him to stay away from her sister. He just shrugged it off, telling her that she should mind her own business, before she stomped off in frustration. There was something about her though... it was almost like she enjoyed being the favorite now. It didn't matter to him, Angel was always his favorite. His favorite friend, his favorite skateboard buddy, his favorite girl. Fuck what her family thought about her. He felt bad for putting her against them like that, but he wasn't going to turn away. No, he wouldn't regret being her friend.
Donovan's intentions weren't to "bring her to the dark side." He didn't want her to "worship the devil" or turn her into "another statistic." He just wanted her to know everything there was to know out there. Why were people afraid of skulls and chains? What did it matter if you wore black all the time or baby blue? It was liberating. Once you knew what was out there, you weren't afraid of it anymore. Not when you didn't have to be. Rock music had its meaning, studded belts were just an expression, and piercings were another way to set yourself apart from others. So he didn't understand what was so bad about his friendship with Angel, but then again, he'd never understood parents.
He looked up again when he noticed some movement out of the corner of his eye. His lips curled into a steadfast grin, one which grew and grew as his best friend approached him. He laughed when she hopped on his back, suppressing a low grunt, before smiling brightly when she kissed his cheek. He managed to keep his balance, one which was thrown off more by the fact that she was near than the sheer force of her actions. It was like a warmth crept down from his shoulders to his feet. He felt like he could do anything with her around. Sometimes he even felt like Peter Pan, so childish, wild, and free. He could be himself without having to hold anything back.
"That's wicked to hear, Bella. Because I'm planning on being so for a berry, berry long time. And umm, I'm glad you made it," he said with a lopsided grin, before shoving his hand gently under her hoodie before she could respond and ruffling her hair a bit in a playful motion. "So, 'sup? I was starting to think that you'd chicken out. Come on, Angelcakes. We've got alot to do before sunrise." And once again a devilish grin crossed his features as he set the skateboard down on the ground. Usually they both fell on their asses after a while, but they'd practiced a few times. And he would let her go in front so that he would break her fall. "So, how are the parentals? Probably as glorious as ever, huh?" he asked casually as he extended his hand out to her, as if he were leading her up into a carriage or something. He was a sweet boy, just a little crazy sometimes. come on get higher ,---------------------------------------------------- in her old school you always had girls who where just bitchy. they wouldn't come out and tell you but rather just talk among themselves about any little thing off about you. angel knew it was one of her biggest annoyances at that school, you would hear things from other people when you confront the person they would deny even thinking that. because, it was a sin or something to thing badly about others, but they were girls. it was in there genetic make up to be bitchy, and judge everyone. hell, even angel did it with dino sometimes specially when his eyes would wander to two main locations of a woman. boobs, and the ass. it was common on every man to do this, and she didn't mind it but enjoyed making fun of dino when he looked. though dino was one of the people who at least she didn't think was like that but needed inspiration to draw something. dino was a different person all together than what most thought or expected him to be. when first meeting him she thought he was a bad boy,and it turned out he was one of the sweetest guys she knew.
angel wasn't one for falling in love, but this boy at be able to make her sway with anything he does. they of course have only been best friends but angel knew that he would die for her. which, kind of scared her specially with the small fact that she won't want to loose him. but whenever she was hanging out with his friends he always made sure she wasn't yelled at. she couldn't tell his feelings, because it was all complicated. dino was nice, but she wasn't sure if that also meant he was like this with all of his female friends. it confused angel to no end by the mix signals she was receiving from him. she knew how she felt but didn't want to ruin a friendship over something has feelings that could have gotten mixed interrupted between the two. she knew that feelings of love had always been a myth to her, and for some reason dino always made the myth in her mind become real. it was actually hard for her to explain to anyone expect, Mr. Pipps. Mr.Pipps was a stuffy animal creature that Dino got her for her birthday, and since that day it had been on her bed. she fell in love with the randomness of the creature, and the fact that it smelled just like dino.
she knew telling anyone what was going on in her mind would be crazy. which was why mr. pipps was the best choice for her madness. he didn't talk back to her, because if he did she had a feeling he would call her a fool for falling in love with a boy that was her best friend. her parents for some reason thought if they took away her skateboard it would stop her from seeing dino, and his gang of friends. but they were wrong in so many ways. this encouraged angel to see dino even, more and become closer to him. skating wasn't dangerous, and her parents just wanted to make it so angel couldn't go out with them in the night knowing that none of the guys really wanted to carry extra baggage with them around specially when they could be showing off to each other. angel knew dino wasn't like that, and didn't mind, which was one of the reason it encouraged the behavior even more in her mind. angel was waiting for the day for her parents to just give up and let there daughter be herself without complaining. she didn't care if her sister was the princess, she just wanted to be the one that could live her life without boundaries.
angel knew she was like a rag doll, but she knew where she wanted to be and that was with dino. she didn't care if her parents disowned her or anything but she wouldn't care anymore. he taught her some much that she felt like she owned him more thanks than anyone in the world. he taught her about everything, angel could sing and enjoyed it but she haven't told anyone. dino didn't even know because she didn't think it was a big deal. but she didn't want to take the focus off of skateboarding that, she was beginning to die to see some of his pictures. but usually she let him draw while she was pretending to sleep or was zoned out for a period of time. he was going to show them all to wither he liked it or not. there was no option in her mind. she was going to make a deal with the devil, though she would wait until after the movie to tell him about this deal she wanted to make with him.
grinning at him with his bella comment he always knew how to say things that were sweet. groaning, she pulled off the hat of the hoodie before glaring at him slightly. "do you know how long it took me to make my hair perfect? like all of five minutes." she slowly fixed it back while paying attention to him, at the same time. frowning at him, "but i want to see you sparkle. it makes you all pretty dinosaur." the two had always ended up falling on there ass when they tried to skateboard with each other on the same skateboard, though angel had figured that with her being in the front it would make it more easy for him to control the situation. place if they were falling she could jump in his arms and pray for the best. rolling her eyes at his question about her parents, she took his hand stepping onto the skateboard. "they have a new theory about why i rebel against them." dino was more crazy in her mind, but in her mind prince charming wasn't always perfect. plus she wouldn't want hers to change for anything or anyone for that matter.

Donovan Maxwell EdwardsThere's a f i r e in your eyes, and I h o p e
You'll let it b u r n, there's a s c r e a m inYour v o i c e , and I hope you will be h e a r d . Donovan wasn’t like most guys that only thought about one thing: how quickly they could get into a girl’s pants. He did have his fleeting thoughts here and there, but he knew that girls did too. But really, who didn’t? It was hard not to think about sex when you had sex ed at school, music with naughty implications, movies with rather graphic love scenes, and even those huge smexy billboards when you were driving down the highway. Which, by the way, those things must cause quite a bit of accidents, because whenever he saw one, he normally fell off of his skateboard while he stared at it or he ran headfirst into something, whichever came first. Either way, pain was inevitable. But anyway, he did tend to people watch, but mostly just to gain some kind of inspiration to draw. His biggest ambition was to be an artist, so his behavior centered on it. That’s why sometimes he was a little eclectic. What good artist do you know that wasn’t off of their rocker at one point or another? Not very many, I can tell you that.
So he tried to be as creative as possible, even if sometimes when he sat up in a tree and frightened people by accident--wearing a grin as wide as the Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland--he closely resembled… well, a freak. But he did it anyway. He’d even gotten Angel to go up there with him once or twice in some random park, even if he did owe her one and ended up doing her math homework for like a week or something. Of course, he would do it wrong, so she would have to redo it herself. So it wasn’t really a punishment, more of just an excuse to spend more time together, but hey, he wasn’t complaining.
Dino knew that the new feelings he was getting were only complicating things within him when he was around Angel, so he kept them hidden and tried to ignore them as much as possible. They leaked out sometimes though, when he stared at her for a little too long when she wasn’t looking or when he caught himself thinking about her when she wasn’t around. He missed her. Whether it was love or not, he missed her when she wasn’t there. He knew that if she would let him sleep under her bed on the floor, he would accept, because that meant that he would never have to leave her side. But he wasn’t her adopted dust bunny and he didn’t want her to get into even more trouble with her parents, even if he rarely ever slept very long in his room before sitting up under the covers with a flashlight and sketching something, or just listening to music until he saw the sun come up and headed out the window.
No, he didn’t tend to use doors, not ever. He also didn’t tend to have breakfast at his place. They weren’t really a family and they never had been, so he didn’t see the need in pretending. They had raised him and he was grateful, but they pretty much ignored him, unless they caught him doing something wrong. The problem was that they never caught him when he was doing something good. So he preferred not being around them at all. It was better that way.
It was funny how everything reminded him of Angel and sometimes it was the most random thing. But he’d kept all of the cards that she gave him for his birthday in a little cardboard box under his bed. He didn’t open the new pack of charcoal that she’d given him for his drawings on his last birthday, because he knew that once they were wasted, he wouldn’t have anything from her anymore. Sometimes he even kept some of her texts, if they made him smile on a particularly crappy day. Because maybe he would need to access them later when she wasn’t around, and when he didn’t want to bother her because she was out with her parents, or shopping with her sister. He knew when to back off, he wasn’t overbearing. That was the problem with her parents. The more they told her no, the more she sought out his companionship. She knew that and Dino knew that, so in a way, he was glad that they were so worried about her. It only brought them closer, right?
Donovan knew his stuff on the skateboard, no doubt about it, but he was pretty modest. The only person that he wanted to look good for or impress was Angel and he knew that she didn’t like that. In some ways, he’d shaped his behavior to fit the image that she wanted for a dark prince. He mentally noted when some of the guys did something inappropriate, being too immature or something of that sort, so that he wouldn’t do it himself later. It was all in his subconscious though, so he didn’t realize it. Usually he would draw when he was alone, but he didn’t mind when Angel was around. If he told her that he didn’t want her to see it until he was done, then she would normally respect that, as long as she got to see them eventually. She didn’t know that he was drawing something for her eighteenth birthday. It was far from finished, but it might be the best thing that he’s ever done.
He had been working on it for weeks, crumpling more papers than an aspiring writer on his second novel with an upcoming deadline the next week.
He chuckled when she protested about him messing up her hair, knowing that it annoyed her just a tad, but she liked him too much to get mad at him for it. “Five minutes? Pssh, I take like five point fourty two minutes to get my hair this good looking. I bet Elvis took like twenty though, so he wins,” he said with a playful grin. He was random sometimes, but people tended to like it. There was rarely a dull moment around him. “Sparkle?” he said with laughter in his eyes, biting the very top of his lower lip to suppress himself from laughing out loud. He remembered when he first got his snakebites, he bit down on them one time and it hurt like hell. So his teeth knew their place very well now. He tilted his head slightly to the side at her remark about her parents and their new theory. “Another one? The last one was more complex than the Big Bang Theory, so what is it this time?” he said with a chuckle, before his lips fell into a rather straight line, genuinely curious about whether or not they had somehow managed to sneak him in there as the bad guy, like always.
Once she was on the skateboard, he carefully took his spot behind her, a grin on his lips. Leaning forward just a bit, he hovered next to her ear, opening his mouth to expose his pearly white teeth. “Rawr, let’s rock n’ roll, Angelcakes!” he said as he pushed back with one of his feet, expecting her to do the same on the other side. And they were off! It looked rather awkward from afar, but thankfully, they were both pretty skinny kids. It was much like rowing in a canoe, it took the effort of both sides to keep it going. Now all they had to look out for was low branches and pedestrians popping out of nowhere. Piece of cake. ( LYRICS ) seventeen ain't so sweet - the rja ( TAG ) angel-cakes to the duckyy! come on get higher ,---------------------------------------------------- knowing that she was even lucky to have a best friend like dino, it wasn't every day you met someone so awesome like dino. at least not for angel anyway. he had done so much for her she didn't know what to do. it was like her was a one of the kind, and he was all hers. she knew it sounded clingy, but typicanally he was sinces they always were with each other. she wasn't sure how long it was going to be for her to build up enough courage to tell him her feelings that she got whenever they were together. she knew, that at times it was clear but then again she would deny it because well, it just wasn't something she wanted at the moment. it was enough for her parents to hate dino already but she wasn't going to make a fool out of herself to pour out her feelings to have them not returned. it was hard for her to do that before, and now she had even more reason to do it.
angel was his friend, after all and it wasn't common not at least now days that your best friend used to be a christian goodie two shoes, and you managed to turn her into the dark princess as there parents say. she didn't care what her parents say anymore knowing that she lost everything in her mind knowing that dino always made it better. she felt with him, she didn't need them. she knew it was something like puppy love, but it was hard for her to explain in words. she hated seeing him hanging out with all the girls knowing he basically was really attractive in the bad boy way, and that attracted preps more than anything. she hated seeing him showing things that she considered 'there' thing to do so to say. she wouldn't tell anyone knowing it sounded really clingy but had a feeling dino knew why most of the time she just walked away whenever they were around.
angel didn't think she could handle losing him to one of them. them being the girls that couldn't speak in a complete sentences without using like more than twice. it drove her crazy, and it wasn't something she wanted to deal with knowing that it would soon come. but, angel was happy in her group of guy friends knowing that being one of the only females made it look like she was a whore, but knew they were more like family than anything. she adored there hair, and loved running her fingers through any of theirs basically because of the was it was paired or brushed. she knew that they would be there for her, and protect her. she knew this year was the year she wanted to change one thing they did together for sure. every year it seemed they would go to homecoming together, but this time she wanted to go with dino like as a date. though she wasn't sure how to exactly ask him just yet. she had these pictures in her ehad of the two dancing but she didn't have enough courage to ask him about it. she should would let it wait like always until it was to late, and finally just go.
she didn't mind dancing with her guy friends knowing that it was something most girls would die to do. she knew her guy friends were really attractive, and it was just a bonus for dino that he was her favorite, and best friend or she could have easily it seemed fall for any of them. but it wasn't any of them, it was dino, the one that made him go into a tree with him so he could stalk people in the park. it did work out to her advatage knowing she got him to her math homework, only to find out it was wrong because he wanted her to do it. she didn't mind that, but enjoyed the fact she got to watch him draw, and hang out with him. it wasn't something she really wanted anyone else to do when she was gone. she wasn't exactly sure of her plans for college but knew her parents wanted her to be a doctor or something crazy along those lines. it was hard for her to explain what they wanted but she knew what she wanted.
shaking her head to make her hair attempt to fall the same way she shook her head lightly at him. "No, my sister takes an hour. so i think she wins." angel never understood why it took women so long to finish with there hair knowing it didn't have to look perfect around guys, because as long as you were hot they would hit on you. and typically she knew, from hanging out with them that your hair didn't matter so much. it was the all about the two b's the boys made up long ago it seemed. boobs, and butt. the main things that matter to them, angel ignored them mostly knowing it wasn't something she didn't want to take much interest in like some of them did. sparkling vampires to her made her laugh slightly, okay alot knowing that it was impossible but let mrs. meyers work her magic not understanding how she could make girls sway over someone like jacob or even edward. the one that got her attention was jasper. she couldn't help but be drawn to his sad tell about his past, and the fact he was a sweetheart in the serious.
posistiong herself, she turned her head to laugh lightly. "well, this time it's because i don't understand the way i was raised, and felt left out as a child. so to make it up to me they are going to do everything i miss in my childhood." angel knew her parents wanted her to be happy, but it was there way she wanted her to be happy. she was happy right now with dino, but that just wasn't enough for them. it never seemed to be. nodding lightly she slowly pushed off the ground on the opposite side of the skateboard. she knew both of them were skinny which gave them more room, but still it made things difficult knowing skateboards were usually only for one person. she didn't know what she was doing so let dino steer the board.

You'll let it b u r n, there's a s c r e a m inYour v o i c e , and I hope you will be h e a r d . Donovan may not be satisfied with his family situation and how things had turned out, since he was still hurt by the whole ordeal of being unaware that he was adopted, but he knew that he would always have his friends. The idea that blood is thicker than water didn't seem to apply here, because he found himself closer and more comfortable with Angel than with anyone else on this planet. That was a fact. He would pick on her from time to time, say something silly to make her smile, or comfort her when she was feeling down, and in turn, she would have his back, no matter what. He knew that she thought that she owed him alot for being her dark knight in shining armor, introducing her to the life that she could have, but he felt that he owed her even more for sticking with him, even after he'd received her parent's disapproval.
It was hard going against your parent's wishes. Even if his parents weren't his real parents, he still felt tied down, because they had been the one to raise him. They gave him everything they could, except for their unconditional attention.
Angel gave him more than enough attention, humoring him when no one else would. She also made him feel all warm inside when she was near, which he didn't feel when he was around someone else. And that confused him, but he was beginning to get used to it. He did flirt from time to time with the ladies, but it was innocent. He wasn't the type to lead anyone on. He was sweet though, so some people confused it as hitting on them, which hey, to each their own. And okay, so he was also charming, even behind those silver snakebites of his, but he wasn't a player or a man whore that went around humping anything on two legs. He had a little bit more respect for himself than that. Besides, he only really wanted to impress Angel, not that he was completely willing to admit it to himself just yet. But whenever he was around another girl, all he wanted to do was to ditch her and be with Angel. But he didn't want to smother her. He wasn't her jealous boyfriend or anything, so he didn't need to be on her heels 24/7. Even if he didn't feel like he was complete when she was away. Even if sometimes he couldn't breathe.
But Dino was never good with expressing his emotions. Never. He tended to say things wrong when he was nervous and he didn't want to scare Angel away. He gave the preps his attention because maybe a part of him wanted to make Angel jealous. It was wrong, but he was just so tangled up in his feelings for her that he wished he could tell what she was thinking sometimes. He always watched to see if he would see a glimmer of something in her eyes, but she would leave before exposing that side of her. It always left him guessing and it also left him feeling guilty, even if they weren't together. And it wasn't long after that he would take his leave too, not bothering with skate tricks or getting their numbers. He wouldn't call. He would usually spend the night texting back and forth with Angel, where she would tease him about it, and he would work at getting back into her good graces.
In his closet, besides his skater clothing and hidden packs of smokes, Donovan still had his dress suit for special occasions. It was his senior year, so he wasn't going to wear the same one, but sometimes he would lock himself in his room and try it on for a while, practicing his dance moves. He usually went with Angel and his buddies, as a group, but never as a date. He knew that he wanted to get her one of those flower things, he didn't know the name, but it was cute to put it around her wrist and pick her up and the whole ordeal. But would that make it a date? He wasn't sure and he got butterflies--no, spaceships--in his stomach just thinking about it. College was another thing that scared him. It was hard to decide which one was more nerve-racking. What a mess he'd made.
Dino laughed when she mentioned how long her sister took in the bathroom. It was true, women took forever. He wasn't sure why, but he always chalked it up to genetics or something. He was always making up excuses for them. He loved the ladies. Well, he respected them. He knew that without them, no one would be around to carry the babies in their tummies and men didn't have boobs. He was pretty interested in human anatomy, since he thought the body was a complex structure. But skateboarding was alot more entertaining than plastic models. Whenever he got to draw nude women in his art class, however, then things got a little more interesting. But he wasn't a prude, he had a sense of self-restraint... well, sometimes. He couldn't help but chuckle at times, his immature side leaking through. He was still a kid, he was only seventeen.
Truth be told, he didn't know much about the Twilight fandom, since he'd never read the books, but he knew the general jist of it. Humans, vampires, and werewolves. That was the latest craze nowadays. He wasn't sure which one of them he would be, if he were to take a quiz online or something. He just used the Edward/Bella reference because they were both rather pale and he had kickass hair, just like Pattinson did. The guy was a genius on the guitar and he respected him for that. But he much preferred his own hair, thanks.
Donovan looked up when she finally spoke, responding to his curiosity about her parent's latest theory. Those people were a riot. He still couldn't understand how Angel could be in the same gene pool. They were completely different. Of course, Angel had been rather withdrawn when he first met her, but after he got her to get passed her initial caution towards his kind--and he used that term lightly--then she had quickly embraced the fold. It was much like the Edward/Bella relationship, from what he'd heard anyway. Vampire saves human, human knows that vampires can be dangerous, vampire protects human and proves her wrong, and then human falls in love with vampire. Of course, he didn't have a big enough ego to assume that Angel was in love with him, but it was something nice to think about. Maybe he would read the books sometime.
"Everything?" Dino repeated with a quirked eyebrow, looking a bit surprised by her remark. They were crazier than he thought. "Wow, I guess they're planning to keep you in the house until you're thirty then," he added as he reached up to scratch the back of his head in a pensive motion, before shrugging his shoulders a bit and maintaining his balance as she got on board. He had his feet on either side, so that he could press down and shift whenever they had to make a turn. He rested his hands lightly on Angel's waist, so that they would be more like one person than two. It was not an excuse to touch her or anything. He always did that. Yeah, yeah, keep telling yourself that, Edwards, he thought to himself. The movie theatre wasn't that far away, but he doubted that they would make it there in one piece. Well, you know, both still on the board. And as predicted, there was a sharp curve up ahead. "Turn, turn, turn!" he said with a laugh, before he felt the board lose its course as it hit a crack in the sidewalk and he felt himself losing his footing as he fell to the side and into the grass with a grunt. come on get higher ,---------------------------------------------------- angel always heard of these people, mostly her friends who loved there family while she hated it. she knew dino's situation but it seemed he always tried to make the best out of all of it. it wasn't something she really wanted to talk about anymore because her family might as well not even be alive at this moment in time. she did everything against them, and they made a big deal. angel knew if they would just listen and understand maybe just maybe they would understand why she did the things she did. she thought of all people her mother knew what she was going through, but no she acted clueless. angel had talked to her mother one on one before about dino, and turned into the conversation about herself falling in love with the bad boy, and getting her heart broken. but angel tried to plead to her in so many ways dino was in fact different from all the bad boys.
it was hard for most to understand that dino wasn't a bad guy on the inside. he just wanted to be an ass, and look like a bad ass. he was one of the sweetest guy ever in the world it seemed to angel. he didn't push himself on anyone though, angel personally though that would be a hillarious sight to see. she knew her feelings for her him didn't want to act on them though she knew he was sweet. it would change thing, and she didn't know how he acted with his girlfriends. she was only a really good friend, and it ended up being something that most knew though most of the school swore that they were more. but, they weren't no matter how much angel wanted it to be.
if dino didn't ice the cake, then her making out and being all over girls sure did. she wasn't lesbian but more of bi curious and loved making out with girls. both sexes were fun but for parties and making out she prefered girls way more than guys only because guys would want to stick it in you. while girls were more hot and heavy it seemed. angel knew her limits, but knew her feelings for dino weren't ever going to change. it made things somewhat difficult but it was whatever in her mind. she didn't want to ruin there friendship and was scared, so she got shit faced and made out with hot girls at any party really. she made out with a few guys but it seemed that whenever she was drunk she was surronded by girls instead and just started to kiss them instead of thinking about anything really.
maybe angel was getting to far in. she knew saying she was in love with dino would be somewhat wrong, but whenever she thought about it she felt her whole body warmen to his name. she knew it was something that had been like that for a good while, but she didn't want to face the music of that just yet. it was hard to explain to herself that she had been the fool to fall for her best friend who happened to be able to do anything he wanted. he was the one that made her heart skip a beat everytime he drew a picture or went out of his way to do something sweet for her. she knew it might just have been him being nice, but he wasn't sure anymore. she knew she wasn't jealous of the preps, or at least that's what she told the guys when dino went and talked to them. she would go sit on one of her guys friends laps or do something to pay back at him for doing it.
she knew he didn't know how much it hurted her to see him flirt, but she couldn't and wouldn't tell him. she wanted to be with him but it seemed impossible and she hated it. knowing that you had so much feelings for someone but unable to tell them because you weren't sure. at times angel just wished people wore a sign that said who people liked so there wouldn't be tension or awkwardness between the two. there wasn't between angel and dino, but she didn't know what she should and shouldn't do which drove her mad. she wanted to have the blond hair that made boys flock to her, and say the small and stupid words that make everyone look at you all cute. but she couldn't. and she wouldn't change again. she wanted to fit in with dino, and she thought that's what he wanted. a girl he could chill with, not someone who he had to be with all the time and change for.
he was a big boy, so she would let him go make his own decisions even though it might not be the right one in her mind. while riding the skateboard she felt his hands on her waist, and she enjoyed his gentle but firm touch on her waist. no no, he is your friend angel. she wished she could have kept saying that, but shaking her head lightly it was to late, and the skateboard was already out from underthem and she landed on the grass next to him. laughing lightly she sat up looking at the boy. "you loser, you did that on purpose." she hit him with her hardest punch but it was weak, and she knew he didn't feel it. she knew they could just walk to the theater from where they were. but it was a pretty night outside, and she sat there looking at the boy with the blue eyes.

Donovan Maxwell EdwardsThere's a f i r e in your eyes, and I h o p e
You'll let it b u r n, there's a s c r e a m inYour v o i c e , and I hope you will be h e a r d . Donovan had learned a long time ago that it was best to live with what you've got instead of trying to live a life that you didn't have. When things got rough, he smoked, skateboarded, and drew from dawn to dusk. He was good at wasting time and not having to think about things. But usually he didn't get very far on his own. So he enlisted the help of his friends, like Angel, and the other guys, of course. He really didn't know what he would do without them. Without the group that called themselves Roadrunners and the girl that lightened up his day, even if it was still dark outside and not a star in sight. He didn't understand why her parents were so against him. Maybe it was because he understood her enough to be able to take her away from them. Maybe they just weren't good with showing their emotions, just like he was. Or maybe they just didn't like him, period. But whatever the reason, it wouldn't change the fact that he enjoyed being around Angel and helping her sneak out of her house always gave him an adrenaline rush.
He'd heard about her making out with girls at parties. And truth be told, it made him a little worried, maybe even self-conscious. What if she ended up falling for one of them, before he was able to tell her how he felt? It would be too late. He wouldn't have a chance. He was only the boy with a lopsided smile that coaxed her out of her house every now and then. The one who messed up her hair that took her five minutes to do. The stupid boy that couldn't say what was on his mind, at least, not when it came to Angel. He didn't mind speaking out against authority or other people, but it was hard for him to fight, or even stay mad at her. He wasn't sure why. So he kept playing along, trying to steal as much of her attention as he could without her noticing that maybe the fact that she was the first person that he called when shit was going down meant more than that they were just best friends. Even the school seemed to think that they were an item, to which they'd respond with nervous glances at each other, before laughing, but it always seemed that his glances lingered long after their laughter died out.
Donovan always assumed that it was best to stay with something secure instead of letting other petty things get in the way. If he spoke about how he felt, everything would change, and she might not feel the same way. Why would she? She was gorgeous and knew just what to say to get a guy to fawn over her. Even if she didn't use it half as much as she could, he knew that if she wanted to, she could have a boyfriend. Maybe the guy would even be a better influence than he was. But would that make him the best guy for her? Not really. As bad as it sounded, Dino felt that he knew the best person for her, and he just couldn't see her with anyone else besides him. They weren't together, but they might as well be. They hung out together all the time, so often that they didn't give each other a chance to find a significant other. Not that Dino wanted to. He was perfectly content spending his time with her, even if he often called it a waste of time. It really wasn't.
Everyday he learned something new about Angel and everyday he fell for her again.
He did get jealous when she got him back for flirting with girls. It was an unspoken competition, one which neither of them really questioned or considered deeply. The rest of the night consisted with teasing and playful banter, but the end was always the same: they'd wish the other goodnight and hope to start it all again the next day. He knew that he could do whatever he wanted. He knew that if he really wanted to runaway and never be found, he could do it. He could disappear. But he kept coming back, not for his so-called parents, but for her. He'd never told her that. He didn't think it was necessary. But everytime the cops brought him back home, he was always found texting away. Without saying a word, she would convince him to return. Even if it felt like he was in hell, trapped in those four walls that he was dying to get out of, Angel always brought him back again.
Donovan didn't know what he would do if he realized that he'd made Angel wait too long, that she had moved on, and found someone else. You didn't know what you had until it was gone. He knew that all too well with his grandfather. But he was scared. Scared of throwing himself out there, wearing his heart on his sleeve, and complicating things with Angel. She was really the only one he trusted. So he felt alright being around her as just a friend. A very good friend. He wouldn't change it for the world. When they landed on the grass, he felt laughter escaping his lips at her remark, to which he shook his head and crossed his arms, resting them on his stomach as he turned his head to look at her, not getting up from his spot on the ground. "Nah uh! You can't prove it!" he said with a playful grin on his lips as he stuck out the tip of his tongue out at her. He'd pierced his tongue once, but when it got sore and he couldn't talk for a week, it'd freaked him out enough to get rid of it.
He grunted as he felt her hand colliding with his arm, which didn't hurt, but he protested anyway through knitted eyebrows and narrowed bright blue eyes. "Heyyy, what'd you do that for?" he protested, before glancing up ahead at the stars. They were pretty bright tonight and he suddenly wondered where they had been when he was looking out his window. Not that he was a sucker for star gazing or anything. He slowly lowered his gaze to look back at Angel, sitting up a bit and leaning back on his palms as he gave her a smirk. "What?" he asked as he stared back at her, but he knew that if she asked him the same question, he wouldn't be able to answer. The moonlight seemed to fall over her slim figure and illuminate something in her eyes. Her tresses seemed like they were alive. Well, except for the leaf in them.
He chuckled slightly as he reached over to pick it out of her hair, brushing her cheek with his fingertips in the process, but pretending not to notice. "Did you fall into a tree when I wasn't looking?" he added as he held the leaf in his hands and began to preoccupy them by breaking it apart at the seams. come on get higher ,---------------------------------------------------- angel had learned that life sucked all around at times. she watched a show about how souls picked there birth parents, and she knew she selected the wrong ones if they did get a choice. she spent most of her time either talking to dino or texting him. he was her entertainment for the most part, and well she didn't want it any other way. she sung from time to time in the shower but knew her sister would bash her if she even tried to sing when she was home. it was just another thing that her sister loved to do. picking on siblings was something wroten in blood that you just had to do. it was another person living with you and for some reason living with them for most of there life you became annoyed. angel knew it was true with her sister, and wish she would just move out of the house. but her parents knew that angel was going to be the first to move out.
for angel she knew there was a slim chance for her to fall in love with a chick. she couldn't handle her girlfriend always stressing over the fact she was friends with a few guys. she knew she tried to date a girl before, and well it ended out for the bad. she couldn't handle the contast thought of cheating and the fact her girlfriend had to be all over her. she knew not all lesbians were like this but this girl was and she was half glad she got over angel within a few weeks of the break up. angel knew that she thought of them more as friends but she wasn't completey sure about dating just yet because well it was dino. it was her blue eyes prince that got her through the day even if she wanted to hate the world forever. she wanted to run away but never knew how to do it knowing she wasn't the best at sneaking out. she would have never gotten out of the house if it wasn't for dino sneaking into her house one night a couple years back to start the whole thing.
angel never had enough time for a boyfriend, somewhat knowing and fearing if she did then she would only be lying to herself. and that would also cut into time she usually spent with dino doing something crazy. she didn't need a boyfriend knowing a few guys before who asked her out but she didn't want any boy. she wanted the boy that made her made, and could pick her up even when she felt like she couldn't be. he had been there with her through her parent drama, and basically any drama she had. she knew that most guys hated it and was the main reason they stayed away from girls unless they were banging them. it wasn't easy to explain to most of there friends that they were close, and that was it. no matter how much she wanted it to be more it wasn't going to be, and it was something she would have to realize sooner or later.
it was a game, and mere game between the two. she knew it was somewhat cruel in some peoples' eyes but in angels it was fair game. she knew that it was fair for any of them, but in the end she would make up with dino at the end of the night and basically fool around with and have a good time. it always had been like that. they could get so made at each other before the end of the night, and then they would just make up making a joke about it. angel wouldn't ever be able to stay mad at dino for long, and the longest she remember about being mad at him was for maybe a full day when something happened. but that was long ago, and well she knew it was something stupid to cause her to get that mad. angel knew that it was probably because he ran away and she really thought he was going to leave her.
dino could vanish if he wanted to and angel didn't want him to. she knew his parents basically hated him and made his life hell but angel didn't know what she would do if she ever lost him. it was hard enough to not be by his side when she was with her parents. but a week without dino was something that would never happen. she would cry everytime he tried to run away, but would play it off as if he wanted to he could or whatever. she didn't want to show him of all people that she was weak at times, and did care for him more than she should have. it was hard enough for her to ever tell herself it was dino. he could have any girl he wanted but he was always around her and it just made things more confusing to him.
angel knew that if she waited she could possibly loose dino forever to some blond girl that couldn't speak in a full sentence. or worse, a whore that merely played with his heart and chipping it. angel would beat someone's ass if she had to because there was no way anyone should even feel the need to change dino. he was sweet, funny, and a bit of wild al wrapped into one. she knew she wasn't just going to be able to blurt out her feelings unless somehow things managed to happen that involved that. glaring slightly at dino she rolled her eyes knowing that she couldn't best it just wouldn't be the two if they didn't fall at least once on there trip to the movies. "you know what donovan, you're going to get raped by a fat man up the butt and i'm going to laugh."
punching him, she knew she was such a girl when it came to that. "because i can punk." she brought her knees up into her chest knowing that she really didn't want to go anywhere just yet. it was a beautiful night and she would much rather walk now that it seemed to know couldn't skate together to save there life. turning her head to the side she was confused, "what what?" her head had been resting on her drawn in knees before the question and she didn't want to move from that posistion. "unless you're the tree i don't think i did." letting her legs stretch out she leaned back into the grass gazing out into space looking at it sky.

Donovan Maxwell EdwardsThere's a f i r e in your eyes, and I h o p e
You'll let it b u r n, there's a s c r e a m inYour v o i c e , and I hope you will be h e a r d . Donovan wasn't sure how he had ended up as a foster kid. He'd never known his real parents, and they had never really gotten a chance to know him, so how did they figure out that they didn't want him? He was pretty sure that he wouldn't be able to abandon his own child, if he ever had one. Of course, at this age it might be considered a mistake, but after living so long with people that had only lied to him in order to get him to do what they wanted, he knew that he would never want to put his son through something like that. They weren't bad people, but he saw it as a form of manipulation. He hadn't chosen them to be his foster parents, they'd just thrown him in there for god knows what reason--probably because they'd done wonders to the house with the income that he brought in as a stray--but he also didn't regret it completely because he'd been able to meet his grandfather, who was a great man.
If only he had stuck around for a little longer, maybe he would've been able to convince Dino that his foster parents were just trying to do what they thought was best for him. But he'd left so abruptly. He didn't even have a chance to say goodbye. It was heartbreaking to think about, because the only real father figure in his life was no longer around to distract him from the life that he had accepted as his own by living it, no one around to take him away during the summer for a change in pace. But he would be turning eighteen soon, and once he reached legal age, he knew that he would be free. But would he really? He knew that he wouldn't be able to leave unless Angel left with him. And regardless of how much she fought with her parents, mostly because of his guidance, he knew that it would be hard for her to leave them. She would miss them, at least a little. They were her real parents.
Sometimes Donovan wondered what it would be like to have a sibling. He'd always been an only child, since his foster parents couldn't bore any children of their own, hence their reason for adopting. But there was always this vibe as if they were keeping their distance, afraid that his real parents would show up and take him away from them. But it had been seventeen years and no one had come looking for him. Sometimes he wondered why. Wasn't he good enough for those faceless people that had decided to create him? He'd spent many nights up thinking about it, turning it over in his mind, trying to figure it out. He'd only known for about a year or so, but it was eating him inside with every day that went by. The time that he spent with Angel dulled it down a bit, distracting him from something that was useless to think about with her smile and witty remarks. She was his best friend. She was his sanity. She was the one, the only one. She was everything.
He knew that it was hard to think about them dating one another. He knew that it would probably change everything, and the things that they were comfortable talking about now, might become more strained or untouchable. But he continued to wonder about it, sneaking into her house as often as he could. She was the damsel in distress that he had to save, but whenever he was face to face with her, she was no longer a damsel, but a princess. A dark princess that captivated him with her every move, hanging on every word, and transfixed on every gesture. It wasn't as obvious as one might think, because they'd been friends for a long time now and it was something that had developed over time. It took him a while to realize it and he still hadn't completely grasped the idea. So he took it as a game, just an innocent game that wouldn't leave any bruises or broken bones. But what about their young hearts?
It wasn't too hard for Donovan to escape, to be honest. Not that no one would come looking for him, because they would, but every time, he would come back. He didn't feel guilty for the fake show that his parents put on when they had him back in their arms again, before sending him up to his room after the cops were gone and grounding him for a week or two. It would never work though. He would just keep doing what he was doing. He would sneak out until dawn, and sometimes he would come back to sleep, but sometimes he slept over at a friend's house. His parents had questioned his orientation before, because of his tight pants and the fact that he let his hair grow out, but after getting his snake bites and hanging around with Angel more, they had stopped. He was straight, he just had his own style. He didn't feel the need to be a macho man, because he knew that's not what Angel wanted. And he didn't want to be fake either. You didn't have to push people around to be a man. You just had to have a heart and a pair of balls would help too.
He couldn't understand how guys could be manwhores, or really anyone for that matter. He knew that he got attached to the women that he knew and he couldn't imagine just sleeping around, getting what he wanted and then leaving them there in bed, grabbing his clothes and sneaking out. It just wasn't his lifestyle. He loved the people that he was with, maybe not the same as he seemed to love Angel, but he held a certain fondness to everyone, even his jackass friends. He did act like an ass sometimes and pretend that nothing bothered him, but he did care. Deep down, he did. When she spoke again, using his full name this time to show that she was serious, he couldn't help but chuckle, a mischievous glint in his bright blue eyes.
"Hey, that's not nice, Angel-cakes... don't call people fat," he said with a playful grin on his features. She was trying to mess with him. "And that would only happen if I get thrown in jail. So far, I haven't been caught, so you're gonna have to wait to tape that one and put it on youtube." He brought his index finger up to point at her, wrinkling his nose lightly. "Yes, I know your masterplan... busted."
Donovan quirked a brow at her remark, picking at the grass underneath his hands as he leaned back against his palms. "I'm not a punk. I'm a punk rocker, babe," he said as he stuck his tongue out in a mockery of KISS, minus the crazy face paint. He looked towards his trusty skateboard, which had stopped at the end of the sidewalk only because it went headfirst into a a large trash bin adorned with colorful graffiti. He looked back at her question, to which he didn't really have an answer. "What what... what?" he added, getting a little tongue-tied, to which he shrugged his shoulders. "I didn't say nothin'. It was all in your head." He watched her as she spoke, before she laid back in the grass, moving closer to her and lying down on his stomach, his dark hair falling into his eyes as he rested his head on his hand while looking down at her. "I could've been a tree. A scary ass tree. Might have to grow a few feet to be a little more convincing, but I'm sure if I borrow your sister's pumps for Halloween, I can make it work. Whatcha think?" He flipped his hair out of his face, his heartbeat accelerating and somehow lodging itself in his throat as he watched her. She was dazzling.
